Many people took to the comments and shared their thoughts on the wedding guest’s choice of outfit.

“Wearing a white/cream dress of any style is a taboo at weddings unless the bride specifically asks close female family members to wear white (it’s a southern thing, I believe),” one person penned. “You just don’t do it! No matter how well the dress looks on you!”

In agreement, a second said: “I have the same/very similar dress but in a mint colour! I wore it to a schools ball (prom for Americans basically). Couldn’t imagine wearing it to a wedding though?”

“A glass of merlot is going to show up beautifully on that dress,” a third jokingly commented.

Others defended the wedding guest and said that actually, it’s becoming ‘trendy’ for wedding guests to attend the special day wearing white and cream shades.

One woman commented: “This is almost exactly the dress that I selected for my bridesmaids. A couple of my girlfriends have also chosen ivory or champagne satin dresses for their bridal parties, it’s pretty trendy nowadays.”

Another gushed: “Wtf! I thought this was a post in r/weddingdress and was gonna comment ‘That looks amazing!'”
