A Wetherspoon chip portion page has gone viral and the internet is in hysterics over it.

The Facebook group, titled Wetherspoons Paltry Chip Count, has over 40,000 UK members who all dedicate their time to counting and recording the number of fries on their plate.

Some diners have even gone to the extreme lengths of measuring out the length of the food.

A typical entry on the page reads: “Good amount of chips, not too much, but also not too little. Wasn’t able to count the chips as my hands would be very very dirty after that, but overall it seemed like the perfect amount!

“Would like a little bit more curry over the chips but all in all would order again. The food was in fact very nice as well, would 100% recommend [it]!”

Whereas other members are much straighter to point, commenting: “31 hot juicy chips.”

One dedicated chip lover also claimed they wanted to bring a scale along to their local Spoon.

In a post, they penned: “Partner wouldn’t let me take scales in yesterday, but he’s at work late, so managed to sneak them into Sir Henry Tate Chorley.

“26 chips (fairly average) at a total weight of 189g, approximately 7.27g per chip.”

After hearing of the page’s existence, Wetherspoons spokesperson Eddie Gershon has said that the group comes as ‘no surprise’.

He commented: “A few years back Wetherspoon carpets were all the rage on Facebook, so it’s probably no surprise that someone has now started a chip account.

“All pubs should serve the same weight of chips, but the number of chips might vary depending on the size of chip.”
