The joke that made Will Smith slap Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars has been revealed.
The actor appeared at the 94th Academy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles alongside his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith, when the comedian decided to make a comment about her shaved head – which is apparently due to alopecia.
Rock said: “Jada, can’t wait for GI Jane 2.”

Although Smith initially appeared to laugh at the remark, he marched on stage and punched the comedian in the face before screaming at him: “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth.”
Shocked, the host replied: “I’m going to.”
After shaking himself off, Rock went on to say: “That was the greatest night in the history of television.”
Later on in the evening, 53-year-old Smith, who picked up the Best Actor award for his role in King Richard, tearfully apologised for the outburst in his acceptance speech.
He said: “I want to apologise to the Academy. I want to apologise to all my fellow nominees.
“Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father, just like they said about Richard Williams. But love will make you do crazy things.”
Organisers of the event have since issued a tweet saying they ‘don’t condone violence’.
It read: “The Academy does not condone violence of any form.”
It went on to add: “Tonight we are delighted to celebrate our 94th Academy Awards winners, who deserve this moment of recognition from their peers and movie lovers around the world.”
