Will Smith’s ‘divorce’ comment about Jada Pinkett Smith has shocked fans.

The actor made the remarks in an interview with MTV back in 2006 and it resurfaced after the couple was thrust into the spotlight when he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars.

At the time, he told the outlet that there were two outcomes for them, ‘they were together until death,’ or ‘he was dead’.

Smith said: “Divorce can’t be an option. With Jada, I stood up in front of God and said, ‘Til death do us part’.

“So there are two possible outcomes. One, we are going to be together ’til death, or two, I am dead.”

Jada Pinkett Smith shared similar views on her Facebook show, Red Table Talk, saying: “I told Will from the gate, I said let me tell you something, ‘If you marry me, know this: we’re gonna be together’.

“‘We’re going to be under the same roof’… For me personally, I knew that there was no reason that he and I would ever [divorce]. ”

It comes as Pinkett Smith told him she ‘never wanted to marry him’ in a ‘heartbreaking’ clip that has also resurfaced online.

It was also part of her Red Table Talk, show, and in it, the 50-year-old admitted that the only reason she agreed to the union was that she was pregnant with the couple’s first child, Jaden.

She said: “I really didn’t wanna get married.”

Chipping in, Smith added: “We only got married because Gammy [Pinkett Smith’s mum] was crying.”

The mum-of-two agreed, adding: “It was almost as if Gammy was like: ‘You have to get married, so let’s talk about the wedding’.

“I was under so much pressure, you know, being a young actress, being young, and I was just like pregnant and I just, I was just like, I didn’t know what to do, but I just knew, I was like, I never wanted to be married.”
