A woman has sparked a debate on TikTok after accidentally ‘ordering a £260 steak on a date’ and ‘letting her boyfriend pay’.

Daniela, who goes by the username @ikingdani, was out celebrating her two-year anniversary with her partner when she ordered a wagyu sirloin steak, which is known for being an expensive dish.

She shared the cost of the dinner on the platform with her followers and revealed that her boyfriend’s meal cost $48, while hers was a staggering $312.

People in the comment section reacted to the video and questioned if she should’ve at least contributed to the bill, or even paid for all of it.

Some users felt like she should, with one person commenting: “You should’ve offered to pay half. That’s a big bill.”

“A good partner would pay their part of the bill in a situation like this or at the very least offer to,” added another.

A third TikToker said: “The fact that you didn’t even offer to pay for at least half.”

However, some people expressed that the restaurant is at fault for not explaining how much her meal would cost.

One argued: “The server should’ve confirmed that’s what you meant to order given the disparity in the dishes.”

Another user commented: “Nah cause the server should have clarified that, something that difference in price I would have been like ‘OK, and just to let you know it’s $300’.”

“Everyone tripping over a tip, but a good waiter would have clarified the steak was $300,” a third argued.

The TikTok user went on to admit to her followers that she ‘left the restaurant crying because she was embarrassed’, but said that she had made it up to him by ‘buying him a PlayStation 5’.
