A supermodel and former Victoria’s Secret Angel has been named 2022’s ‘most beautiful face in the world’.
Film blogger and content creator TC Candler has been handing out the title since 1990.
The ‘100 Most Beautiful Faces of the Year’ list states that it is ‘unlike most other annual beauty rankings’, as it’s ‘not a popularity contest and is most definitely not country specific’, with representatives from more than 50 different countries.
Candler looks for ‘aesthetic perfection’, with ‘grace, elegance, originality, daring, passion, class, poise, joy, promise and hope’ forming the rest of the criteria.

In the 2022 edition of the list, model Jasmine Tookes, 31, took the top spot.
Tookes, who is of European, African American, Brazilian and West Indian descent, has featured on the list on seven previous occasions.
But 2022 is the first time she’s come out on top of the list, beating the likes of Wolf of Wall Street star Margot Robbie (96th), Game of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke (83rd) and Harry Potter actress Emma Watson (65th).

In third place came Thai K-pop star Lisa – a member of the band Blackpink – who has featured on the list six times before and was the winner in 2021.
Another K-pop singer, Nancy Jewel McDonie of the girl band Momoland, was 2022’s runner-up.
She featured on the list for a fifth time, narrowly missing out to Tookes, who is married to Juan David Borrero, the son of Ecuador’s vice president.
Apparently, the rankings are decided on by a ‘diverse’ group of around 20 people from all over the world, selected by Candler, who sifts through the public’s suggestions in order to collate the list.
Beneath the list, which has been shared on YouTube, Candler said: “The list has been acknowledged or personally thanked by over 750 celebs that have been included on the lists over the years.
“It is not about the hottest or the most famous celebrity. Rather, the list attempts to inform and broaden public opinion, instead of reflecting it.
“The list introduces new faces to countries they ordinarily would not reach.
“The Independent Critics search far and wide, listening to the many millions of suggestions submitted by the public over the past couple of decades, and they then put together a list representative of the modern ideal of worldwide beauty.

“We select only 100 faces out of the approximately 160,000 celebrities – which works out to less than 0.001%.
“It is a thankless task, as no individual will ever agree with all the choices.
“This diversity relies heavily on public suggestions from almost every corner of the globe.”
Superman star Henry Cavill topped the male equivalent of the list – named ‘100 Most Handsome Faces of 2022’ – beating Call Me by Your Name actor Timothee Chalamet, 27, and runner-up Hyunjin, a 22-year-old Korean rapper.
