An Airbnb host has gone viral after she received a bad review, and responded by sharing the guest’s wife footage of him with another woman, sparking a lawsuit.
There’s no denying that Airbnb has absolutely revolutionised travel.
But there’s a downside to a more… personal travel experience.
And this week, one Airbnb customer learned this to his detriment.
After leaving a negative review on an Airbnb, his angry host shared some footage with his wife that he seriously didn’t want her to see.

Shawn Mackey, who lives in Mississippi, rented a house in Memphis for a weekend reunion with old friends in fall 2022.
He was sharing his booking with three other guests, but informed the ‘super host’ that he was planning on inviting some others over for a dinner.
Mackey and the host agreed that the three-bed, two-bath property would be rented for $567 per night.
But host Pamela Fohler then tried to charge Mackey an additional $960 fee that was issued because he allegedly broke house rules by having extra guests over.
Mackey refused to pay this fee, and that’s when Fohler decided to take her revenge…
“Literally effed around and found out,” one commenter jokes.
“This kind of makes the phrase ‘get a room’ seem appropriate,” another laughs.
A third writes: “I want to see this case on Judge Judy!”
According to the suit, Fohler wrote: “I am very sorry, but you have violated the no party rule, disturbed my neighbours by cursing and yelling in the parking lot, and have unauthorised guests,” per MailOnline.
After Mackey refused to pay, Fohler sent Mackey a picture taken from the property’s doorbell camera which shows him with a woman who is not his wife…
According to the suit, she writes: “Hello Shawn, hope you are well. Sorry it took so long to get the photos you requested together to show your stay at our home.
“But I had faith, was driven by integrity, so I committed to get these posted for you and Airbnb.
“Photo at 3:16am is especially notable. Should I forward the photos and videos to Teresa, or will you?”
And then, things got even worse…
Mackey continued to refuse to pay the fee, which led Fohler to forward the doorcam images to his wife!
Mackey is claiming that this is ‘harassment’, and that his marriage had suffered as a result.

He’s seeking damages from Fohler, plus wants an injunction to prevent Airbnb hosts from taking similar action in the future.
Airbnb has responded by filing a motion to try to force both parties to arbitrate an agreement.
Fohler has filed a motion to dismiss Mackey’s suit.
Mackey was given until February 21 to respond.
