A flight attendant has explained why you shouldn’t wear shorts on a plane.

When flying, it’s always helpful to be comfortable, as the chances are you’ll be sat down for a long time.

Some passengers bring cushions and pillows onboard to ensure their comfort, while others opt to wear their cosiest clothes.

However, if you like wearing shorts when you fly, a flight attendant has some bad news for you.

Flight attendant Tommy Cimato (@tommycimato) explains to his TikTok followers the things you should not do when flying on an aeroplane.

Firstly, he says that you should never touch the toilet’s flush button with your bare hands as it’s rarely sanitised.

He also advises people not to lean their heads on the window when sleeping, as you’ve no idea how dirty they are.

Interestingly, this is also why passengers shouldn’t wear shorts.

He explains: “Don’t, or try not to wear shorts when you’re on an aeroplane.

“It’s the same thing as the window, you never know how clean it’s gonna be, so if you have pants, you’re gonna have less germs.”

Other advice he offers is to stay hydrated, as Cimato tells his followers: “Don’t forget to drink water. Stay hydrated.

“You wanna have about 16oz for every flight you go on, so keep that in mind.”

He also says: “Don’t feel afraid to let a flight attendant know if you’re feeling sick.

“So if you need food, water, or an air sickness bag, please feel free to let us know.”

While the advice he offers is helpful, people in his comments section want to know why planes are seemingly so dirty.

One person writes: “So you’re basically saying you don’t clean/sanitize the plane after every flight. Got it.”

Another user adds: “Tell me you don’t clean between each flight, without telling me you don’t clean between each flight.”

A third user asks ‘don’t they sanitise after every flight?’, which prompts Cimato to reply: “The ground crew does all the plane cleaning, they try their best to keep it clean but this is just in case it gets missed!”

A fourth says: “Dude you make it sound like planes are dirtier than toilets.”

However, others agree with the flight attendant and thank him for sharing the advice.

One says: “Everyone laughed at me for wiping down my family’s row before we sat down -everything from the window wall, trays, armrests, back of chairs, etc…”

Another person adds: “I did that when we took our seven-month-old on his first flight. Safety first.

“I work at the airport and clean planes, but there’s only so much that can be done.”
