Britney Spears’ fans have been left ‘floored’ after discovering what her hit song ‘Toxic’ is really about.

The ‘Womaniser’ singer, 41, has a catalogue of smash hits including ‘Oops I Did It Again’, ‘Baby One More Time’ and ‘Boys’.

However, ‘Toxic’ might be her biggest hit as it won Spears her first and only Grammy Award, as well as being her most streamed song with over 900 million streams.

Spears even said during a Twitter Q&A that it is her favourite of her own songs.

Despite the song being out for 20 years, fans are only just realising what the hit is actually about.

‘Toxix’ was written by Cathy Dennis, who dated vet Noel Fitzpatrick – best known for his TV show Supervet.

The pair dated in the early 2000s, but broke up in 2003 which is the same year that ‘Toxic’ came out.

Fans soon put on their detective hats and worked out that the chart-topping Spears song is actually about the famous TV vet.

One person says: “Found this fact out this week that it is a song written about C4 The Supervet Noel Fitzpatrick by Cathy Dennis. Blew my mind. Ace show, btw.”

Holly Willoughby asked the Fitzpatrick if he knew anything about the lyrics ‘I need a hit, baby, give me it. You’re dangerous, I’m loving it’, before asking him if the song is about him.

“Are you who that song is written about? Is it you? Please say yes,” the presenter asked.

The animal doctor then responded: “You may have to ask Kylie Minogue whether ‘I Can’t Get You Out Of My Head’ (which is also written by Dennis) is written about me.”

Phillip Schofield also joined in on the jesting as he remarked: “You clearly have an influence.”
