Angelina Jolie Accuses Brad Pitt Of Physically Abusing Her Long Before ‘Attack’ That Ended Marriage
Angelina Jolie has accused Brad Pitt of physically abusing her long before the ‘attack’ that ended their marriage.
The two actors met on the set of Mr. & Mrs. Smith – in which they played a married couple who both turn out to be assassins – and it’s said their chemistry was palpable.
Their whirlwind romance began a relationship of 12 years, and the pair share six children; Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, Zahara, 19, – whom she adopted from Cambodia, Vietnam and Ethiopia, respectively – Shiloh, 17, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15.
In September of 2016, the Maleficent star filed for divorce.
And now, Jolie has made further bombshell allegations against Pitt.

The FBI became involved following an incident between Pitt, 60, and Jolie, 48, that is alleged to have taken place on September 14, 2016, on a flight from France to LAX on a private jet with their children, per the BBC.
Jolie accuses Pitt of grabbing her by the head and attacking two of their children on the trip. It’s also been alleged he verbally abused and poured alcohol on his family on the same flight.
The allegations have been denied by Pitt.
Following the alleged incident, a representative for the Girl, Interrupted star told People: “Angelina Jolie Pitt has filed for dissolution of the marriage. This decision was made for the health of the family. She will not be commenting at this time, and asks that the family be given their privacy during this difficult time.”
While the Fight Club actor’s representatives also told People: “He is emphatic that it did not reach the level of physical abuse, that no one was physically harmed.
“He did not hit his child in the face in any way. He did not do that; he is emphatic about that. He put his hands on him, yes, because the confrontation was spiralling out of control.”
Jolie made the allegations about the 2016 flight in 2022 and at the time, Pitt’s lawyers said he was on the receiving end of ‘every type of personal attack and misrepresentation’.
And now, a new filing by Jolie’s lawyers alleges that Pitt’s abuse ‘started well before’ the highly-publicised 2016 plane incident.
Since the pair split, the former couple’s co-owned winery, Château Miraval, has been causing problems.
Jolie’s legal team has now filed a motion to release communications they claim would prove Pitt wouldn’t allow the actress to sell her share of the winery – unless she signed a ‘more onerous NDA’.
The star’s legal team has asked a judge to force Pitt and his investment company Mondo Bongo, which he used to purchase his stake in Château Miraval, to produce documents pertaining to his alleged demand for a more ‘expansive’ NDA.
The filing, which has reportedly been seen by the LA Times, says the documents Jolie seeks are ‘highly relevant’, her team argue.
Previously, Pitt had accused Jolie and her investment firm Nouvel of secretly selling her share of the winery in order to ‘seize profits she had not earned and returns on an investment she did not make’.
In a February 2022 lawsuit, he claimed that his investment in the business ‘exceeded Jolie’s by nearly $50 million’.
Jolie filed a cross-complaint which argued that the pair had no agreement regarding two-party consent for the sale of either’s shares in the winery.

The actress’s lawyers now claim that Pitt’s ‘history of physical abuse of Jolie started well before the family’s September 2016 plane trip from France to Los Angeles’.
However, details of other alleged incidents have not been provided.
A new filing states that Jolie didn’t press charges over the alleged altercation on the plane because she believed ‘the best course was for Pitt to accept responsibility and help the family recover from the post-traumatic stress he caused’, per The Telegraph.
Elsewhere in Jolie’s recent filings, her attorneys have also accused Pitt of ‘unrelenting efforts to control and financially drain’ her, as well as ‘attempting to hide his history of abuse, control, and coverup’.
A court filing by Jolie’s lawyers, obtained by USA Today, reads: “This flight marked the first time he turned his physical abuse on the children as well. Jolie then immediately left him.”
The document alleges: “When Jolie filed the evidence in the custody suit, she was careful to file it under seal so that no member of the public could see it.
“But Jolie’s sealed filing, which included emails, summaries of the family’s expected testimony, and other evidence, caused Pitt to fear that the information could eventually become public.”
An alleged source close to Pitt tells the Mirror: “This is a pattern of behaviour – whenever there is a decision that goes against the other side they consistently choose to introduce misleading, inaccurate and/or irrelevant information as a distraction,
“There was a lengthy custody trial that involved the entire history of their relationship and a judge who heard all the evidence still granted him 50/50 custody.”
