Jennifer Aniston has opened up on her journey with IVF and slammed the ‘lies’ about her not wanting to have children with her ex-husband Brad Pitt.

In an interview with Allure, the Friends icon, 53, discussed her haircare line, LolaVie, but also spoke candidly of her personal life.

The We’re The Millers star has long been plagued by pregnancy rumours and persistent scrutiny of her love life in the media since rising to fame in the mid-1990s.

Aniston has been married twice, first to Ad Astra actor and producer Pitt, 58, between 2000 and 2005.

She was then married to actor and filmmaker Justin Theroux between 2015 and 2017.

Aniston has also had a string of high-profile relationships with the likes of singer-songwriter John Mayer, 45, and fellow actors Paul Rudd, 53, and Vince Vaughn, 52.

Discussing the constant scrutiny of her romances and whether or not she will have a child, The Morning Show actor revealed that she kept her battle with infertility a secret for a long time.

“I was trying to get pregnant,” she told the publication.

“It was a challenging road for me, the baby-making road.

“All the years and years of speculation… it was really hard.

“I was going through IVF, drinking Chinese teas, you name it.

“I was throwing everything at it. I would have given anything if someone had said to me, ‘Freeze your eggs, do yourself a favour’.

“You just don’t think it.”

Following her split from Bullet Train star Pitt in 2005, Aniston said the assumption that she had chosen her career over having children was hurtful.

“It was absolute lies,” Aniston said.

“The narrative that I was just selfish… I just cared about my career.

“And God forbid a woman is successful and doesn’t have a child.

“And the reason my husband left me, why we broke up and ended our marriage, was because I wouldn’t give him a kid.”

While Aniston did not say when she began her IVF journey, Allure noted that it was ‘several years ago’.

Now, the actress says she has ‘zero regrets’ about how her life has panned out.

The Break-Up star said: “Here I am today. The ship has sailed.

“I actually feel a little relief now because there is no more, ‘Can I?’, I don’t have to think about that anymore.”

Aniston also said that she feels ‘the best in who I am today’, better than she did in her younger years.

This is not the first time the star has discussed the impact that tabloid gossip has had on her.

In 2016, Aniston wrote a furious piece for the Huffington Post titled, ‘For The Record’.

In her article, she wrote: “Here’s where I come out on this topic: We are complete with or without a mate, with or without a child.

“We get to decide for ourselves what is beautiful when it comes to our bodies.

“That decision is ours and ours alone.”

Aniston told the Hollywood Reporter last year: “What the tabloids and the media did to people’s personal lives back then, regular people are doing now.

“Now you’ve got social media.

“It’s almost like the media handed over the sword to any Joe Schmo sitting behind a computer screen to be a troll or whatever they call them and bully people in comment sections.

“So it’s just sort of changed hands in a way. And I don’t know why there’s such a cruel streak in society.

“I often wonder what they get off on.”
