Britney Spears’ dad Jamie has been forced to have his leg amputated and is ‘not doing well’.

Spears, 42, is one of the world’s best-selling music artists and is known for huge tracks such as ‘Oops!… I Did It Again’, ‘Toxic’ and ‘Gimme More’.

The pop star suffered from a public breakdown in 2008 and as a result, she was put under a conservatorship that placed her father and lawyer in charge of her personal and financial affairs.

After Jamie was removed from his role as conservator in 2021, Spears opened up about her difficult relationship with her dad in her best-selling memoir ‘The Woman In Me’.

And now it has been revealed that the singer’s estranged father is also going through a difficult time.

TMZ reports that Jamie, 71, has been left with no choice but to have his leg amputated after suffering from a ‘massive infection’ which ‘landed him in hospital for weeks’.

“He had five unsuccessful surgeries to contain the infection, and doctors decided the only way to proceed was amputation,” the outlet reports.

A source in the pop star’s hometown of Kentwood, LA, tells Page Six: “He had a knee replacement and got a terrible infection from it.”

Jamie reportedly underwent the knee replacement in the mid-2000s.

Two months before Jamie’s leg amputation, the publication reported that the 71-year-old was ‘seriously ill’ and had been in and out of hospitals.

At the time of writing, Spears has yet to address her father’s health issues.

Since being ousted as his daughter’s conservator, Jamie has kept out of the spotlight.

In an Instagram post from October last year, the pop star reportedly told her dad to ‘burn in hell’ following his alleged ‘abusive’ behaviour while in control of her personal, medical and financial decisions.

At one point in her memoir, she says: “If I thought getting criticised about my body in the press was bad, it hurt even more from my own father.

“He repeatedly told me I looked fat and that I was going to have to do something about it.”

Jamie has repeatedly denied that there was any wrongdoing during his time as the star’s conservator.

He argues that by placing the ‘Everytime’ artist under guardianship in 2008 he saved her life.

A source tells Page Six that although Spears is on a ‘healing journey’, she has no plans to reconcile with her father, despite reports claiming so.

However, the same cannot be said for the singer’s mother, Lynne Spears, 68, as the pair reportedly reunited for the star’s 42nd birthday in early December.

A Daily Mail source claims that through ‘The Woman In Me’, Spears was ‘able to get her feelings out’ and Lynne didn’t invalidate her comments.

While People magazine reports that Lynne is ‘really making an effort to be in Britney’s life’.
