Carol Vorderman Says She Now Has Multiple Romantic Partners Instead Of Just One
Carol Vorderman says she has ‘never felt freer’ after opting for multiple romantic partners instead of just one.
Vorderman, 61, is best known for appearing on the show Countdown for 26 years.
During her career, she’s been married twice, once to Christopher Mather from 1985 to 1986, and once to Patrick King between 1990 and 2000, with whom she shares two children.
The ex-Loose Women star has now opened up about her love life, and how she doesn’t believe humans should have to choose one partner for their entire lives.

Appearing on This Morning, Vorderman says she prefers to ‘live her life in chapters’.
She explains: “Our mothers told us that we should marry when we were still 18 or 19 or 20, so we grew up with that convention that you should find one partner for life.
“My view is not quite like that.
“Half of the first marriages end in divorce, and nearly three-quarters of second marriages end in divorce.
“So I prefer to live my life in chapters.”
Vorderman goes on to say that since turning 50, she has lived a life ‘which is much freer’.
“I’ve never felt freer,” she says.
“So I have ignored the looking for one person and I have a number of what I’ve called ‘special friends’.”

Vorderman also says she has no intention of marrying or living with a man again so that she doesn’t have to ‘look after him all the time’.
The media personality explains: “This is a time to break this nonsense taboo, which is a person should only be looking for one other person that satisfies everything in their life. That’s hell.”
The two-time ‘Rear of the Year’ winner says she is currently seeing a number of partners, but they ‘don’t know each other’. However, she clarifies that they are aware of the situation.
“It’s a very honest relationship. One of them has gone on for many more years than my marriage,” Vorderman says.
“Yeah, it’s over 10 years. Another is seven. He’s an astronaut. He rang me from the space station.

“They’re not looking for love, they’re looking for companionship, looking for friendship, it may turn into love.
“The age is really immaterial, but my experience suggests that somebody roughly in your age bracket. You have more in common.”
Vorderman encourages anyone with doubts over their love life to ‘go with someone who makes your heart sing’, even if it’s ‘only for an occasional weekend’.
Following her revealing appearance on This Morning, the fitness fanatic has taken to Instagram to offer some further thoughts on the topic with her 268,000 followers.
The post is captioned: “It’s been about 24 hours since I spoke openly on @thismorning @itv about how I have lived my life in terms of relationships over the last 10 years or so.
“I have been overwhelmed by hundreds and hundreds of you, men and women, saying how you either live this life yourself or how you have now started thinking about it and how it perhaps hadn’t occurred to you before.”
She continues: “A life spent with special friends isn’t perhaps for everyone, but neither is a life exclusively living with one person suitable for others.
“I am a strong believer in living life in chapters. I had a beautifully happy marriage, for instance, which lasted for more than a decade.
“It then ended very quickly but that doesn’t negate the fact that it was an incredibly happy marriage (with two children) for all of that time.
“What I have wanted has changed as life has moved on. So, it seems that many of you would like more open discussion about this way of living.”

A number of fellow celebrities have taken to the comments to offer well-wishes and support, with model and TV personality Christine McGuinness writing: “Things I like to see!”
While Vanessa Feltz writes: “You deserve to be happy in whatever form you choose. You are adorable and I am so glad you are loved, desired and appreciated.”
One fan comments: “I think for a woman to speak honestly and openly about this topic takes a lot of guts! There is so much stigma still regarding women and relationships.
“Perhaps it is time that this is openly discussed.”
