The iconic singer, who is 77 years old, continues to defy the passage of time and looks absolutely radiant.
The ‘Strong Enough’ artist, who not only maintains her youthful appearance but also radiates a fresh attitude towards life, has now shared some of her age-defying secrets.
Let’s check them out:
1. Cosmetic surgery
While Cher has embraced the inevitability of growing older, she decided to take proactive steps to maintain her youthful appearance.
In her book ‘Forever Fit:
’, she details the consistent anti-ageing methods she’s followed throughout her life.Cher’s candidness extends to the topic of cosmetic surgery.
She’s emphasised the importance of doing what makes one happy, stating (via People): “People should do what makes them happy.
“Frankly, when I saw my face 10 feet tall in close-ups on a movie screen, I wanted my nose done because it really bothered me.”
2. High-quality beauty products
In an interview with People magazine (via NewBeauty), Cher revealed she has a friend named Dr Barbara Sturm who ‘makes an eye cream and face wash’ she’s obsessed with.
She also shared that she uses Proactiv products, however, she doesn’t ‘stick to one particular product’.
3. Lifestyle choice
The ‘Little Man’ singer has committed to a healthy lifestyle.
She told People that she quit smoking, doesn’t do drugs, never drinks coffee and almost never drinks alcohol or eats red meat.
Cher reaffirmed her dedication to a wholesome lifestyle in an interview with Today.
“All right. I don’t drink, I don’t smoke, I don’t do drugs – I never have. I work out. I’m pretty good with my diet, except I like chocolate,” she said.
4. Working ‘twice as hard’
In an interview with Hello! Magazine, Cher said she works out five days per week with a trainer who doesn’t let her ‘play the age card’.
She admitted to E! Online that ‘you have to work twice as hard’ when you get older.
5. Wearing jeans and having long hair
“I will still be wearing my jeans and I will still be wearing long hair and I will still be doing the same stuff I’ve always done,” Cher said on Good Morning Britain.
“I remember when my friend Paulette and I were talking about when we were going to have to cut our hair and stop wearing jeans because it seemed like in those days that’s what women did – and it hasn’t hit yet.”
Cher has also let fans know that not only will her hair be staying long but it’ll also remain black.
“[Going grey] is fine for other girls,” she told People. “I’m just not doing it!”
6. Keeping young company
In the same GMB interview, Cher stated: “I don’t know if not feeling old makes you younger. I keep up with the trends. I have lots of young friends. I have old friends too. Honestly, I’m not trying to feel young. I’m not trying to be young. I am who I am. I’m just getting along.”
The ‘I Got You Babe’ singer has also opened up about having a much younger boyfriend.
Alexander Edwards, 38, is a music executive and he shares a son with Amber Rose – who is an American model and rapper.
“Alexander’s got diamond teeth, tattoos, white hair, and he’s way younger,” Cher told People. “He’s a beautiful man. Also, I think it’s fun to be interested in somebody else’s love life!”
She went on: “No matter what happens, I love being with him. He makes me laugh, and we have fun.
“What I learned is that it’s never too late.”
7. Prescription skincare
Cher also stumbled upon a skincare secret that has undoubtedly played a role in her ageless appearance.
In the 1970s, she was prescribed Retin-A, originally intended as an adult acne treatment.
Cher shared (via People): “With Dr Arnold Klein in Beverly Hills, I began using Retin-A to treat chronic cystic acne, and I’ve been on a prescription for Retin-A for 10 years now.
“I know Retin-A works. I have used it to control my acne. But what I learned is what everyone else has discovered over the past couple of years: that Retin-A also acts as a de-ageing agent.”
Cher serves to remind us all that beauty, at any age, emanates from self-acceptance, healthy choices – and a dash of chocolate for good measure.
