Chuck Norris’s life

Born Carlos Ray Norris in Ryan, Oklahoma, his journey toward greatness began in 1958 when he joined the US Air Force as an Air Policeman.

It was during his stationing at Osan Air Base in South Korea that he earned the nickname ‘Chuck’ and began studying Tang Soo Do, laying the foundation for his future as a martial arts master, per Variety.

Upon returning to the U.S., Norris opened a chain of karate schools, teaching celebrities like Steve McQueen and Priscilla Presley.

His film career ignited in the 1970s with his legendary showdown against friend and mentor Bruce Lee in The Way of the Dragon, which remains one of the most famous fights in cinema history.

Throughout the 1980s, he became a household name starring in hits like Missing in Action, The Delta Force, and Code of Silence.

From 1993 to 2001, he cemented his legacy as a television icon by starring as Cordell Walker in the massive CBS hit Walker, Texas Ranger.

In the mid-2000s, Norris experienced a massive cultural resurgence thanks to the ‘Chuck Norris Facts’ memes, which he embraced with good humor.

Just days before his passing, on his 86th birthday on March 10, he shared a video of himself sparring with a trainer, showing his continued health and physical fitness.

The actor’s passing came as a shock to many, as he appeared to be in excellent spirits just days prior.

Reports indicate that Norris had been training in Hawaii with friends earlier in the week and was described as being ‘upbeat and jovial’ during phone calls as recently as Wednesday.

However, things took a turn when he suffered a sudden medical emergency that led to his hospitalization in Kauai.

While the family has requested privacy regarding the specific circumstances, it was confirmed that the cause of death was the result of this sudden and undisclosed medical emergency.

He is survived by his wife, Gena O’Kelley, and his five children.
