A Grey’s Anatomy actress is facing backlash after calling Eric Dane ‘pure evil’ in the days following his death.

Dane was best known for his role as Dr. Mark Sloan – nicknamed McSteamy – on the hit TV series Grey’s Anatomy.

He also appeared as Jason Dean in Charmed, Tom Chandler in The Last Ship, and Cal Jacobs in Euphoria.

The American actor died on Thursday, February 19, and his family confirmed his passing in a statement to People.

They said: “With heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon.

“He will be deeply missed, and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful for the outpouring of love and support he’s received.”

But as tributes continue to pour in, a Grey’s Anatomy co-star of Dane’s has dropped bombshell allegations against the actor.

From rising actor to household name

Born Eric William Dane on November 9, 1972, in San Francisco, California, Dane developed an interest in performing at a young age.

After taking part in a high school production, he began pursuing acting more seriously and relocated to Los Angeles in hopes of establishing a career in television.

Throughout the 1990s and early 2000s, he secured parts on series including Saved by the Bell, Roseanne, and Charmed, among others – gradually building momentum until his major breakthrough arrived.

After leaving Grey’s Anatomy, Dane took on a range of roles that showcased his versatility as an actor.

He led The Last Ship as Captain Tom Chandler and later gave a compelling performance as Cal Jacobs on HBO’s Euphoria, delving into complex emotional struggles and relationships.

Dane also appeared in films such as Marley & Me, Valentine’s Day, and Bad Boys: Ride or Die, reinforcing his presence in both television and cinema.

A public battle

In April 2025, Dane revealed publicly that he had been diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurological disorder widely known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

He initially experienced weakness in his right hand and arm, but the condition gradually worsened over time.

ALS – the most common form of motor neurone disease (MND) – affects the motor neurons responsible for controlling voluntary muscle movement. As these nerve cells deteriorate, the disease steadily impacts abilities such as walking, talking, chewing, and breathing.

Early symptoms often include muscle twitching, cramping, and weakness in the limbs, which can advance into more serious difficulties with speech, swallowing, and respiration.

Despite the diagnosis, Dane chose not to retreat from public life. Instead, he spoke openly about his condition.

His family later shared that throughout his illness, he became a committed advocate for ALS awareness and research, determined to use his platform to support others facing the disease.

In a statement, his wife, Rebecca Gayheart, said he spent his final days surrounded by loved ones, including their two daughters, Billie and Georgia.

However, even as the conversation has centered on his health battle and final days, shocking allegations from a Grey’s Anatomy co-star have now cast a sudden and unexpected shadow over the story.

Co-star’s explosive allegations spark backlash

Laura Ann Tull, who was an extra on the long-running medical show, is being slammed by Dane’s fans after branding the late star ‘pure evil.’

She took to Threads and alleged she got Dane fired from Grey’s Anatomy in 2012.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Dane’s 2012 departure from the show was attributed to budgetary constraints and creative direction shifts, with veteran cast members becoming increasingly costly for the network.

“He just died. I only wish he’d apologized & admitted what he did,” Tull said. “I am why he was fired from Greys. I called Rhimes assistant two weeks before they announced his termination. I doubt they will ever admit that.”

The explosive claims didn’t stop there.

Tull continued, alleging: “He was a coward who abused me. Bullied me. Made fun of me.

“When I had beaten cancer. When I was getting sick with an autoimmune disease.

“His dying doesn’t change destruction he caused me.”

The actress also called Dane ‘pure evil, a bully, and an a-hole.’

Tull’s allegations have since sparked outrage on social media, with many taking to social media and criticizing her posts.

“So she waits until he passed to say this? Girl, bye,” one person commented.

Another added: “And you are speaking about this now because…”

“A woman throwing major accusations at a beloved actor days after his death claiming she got him fired and was bullied with zero verification from Grey’s Anatomy producers or reps?” a third wrote.

“That’s wild timing and even wilder storytelling. Grief isn’t a license for drama.”

Meanwhile, others have questioned whether Tull was an extra on Grey’s Anatomy at all, as it doesn’t appear on her IMDb page.

A fan of the medical drama shared: “I have watched Grey’s Anatomy from start to finish so many times. … I’ve never seen you in my life. Ever.”

Previous claims add fuel to the fire

In the days following Tull’s bombshell allegations, it has come to light that this isn’t the first time she has slammed Dane.

In an article for Medium in June 2018, she claimed: “I have the privilege of being told I am weird by a well known actor Eric Dane or at least Arrnie Starr who is an elected representative of Sag Aftra sent me an email telling me that is what Eric Dane said.

“I never talked to Dane. I worked on set of Grey’s Anatomy for three years as an extra, but I never spoke to Dane once directly. But I did hear him talk about me. But why?

“I do not have a complete answer.”

Following the intense social media backlash, Tull has also taken to Threads and hit out at the criticism.

A recent post reads: “#humaga ? I am not your click bait. Dane is Dead so he can’t sue for slander. But you are using me as hate bait. I am not absurd. I have been in pain since 2008. Shut up. Stop twisting the truth. You are gas lighting me & harming my well being. Trash. So are the fans trolling me. I do not want fans. I didn’t become an actor bc I wanted gang of obsessive cult haters.”
