She played Terry Brock, an aspiring singer who struggled with alcoholism.
Bernard starred in 145 episodes before leaving the soap in 1990 when Brock secured a record deal and moved away.
But sadly, following this role, Bernard’s career never reached such successful heights again.
Her infrequent ’90s roles include the French miniseries Maigret and the 1997 movie Kings for a Day.
Bernard’s final role was as a psychologist in the 2002 film adaptation of the play Voices from High School.

According to the Riverside County Coroner, the body was identified via fingerprints.
Bernard’s cause of death has not yet been determined, the coroner adds.
The investigation is ongoing, with toxicology reports currently underway.
However, no foul play is suspected.
Bernard is survived by her younger sister Crystal Bernard, the singer and actor who starred in the long-running comedy Wings. She’s also survived by their other sister Scarlett, and her father Jerry Wayne Bernard.
