J.K. Rowling Appears To Make Savage Dig At Harry Potter Stars In Social Media Post
J.K. Rowling has recently seemed to reaffirm her ill feelings towards Harry Potter stars Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint in a savage dig on X.
The argument began due to their public opposition to her views on sex and gender.
This ongoing feud dates back to 2020, when Rowling’s comments on transgender issues sparked widespread backlash.
The controversy began after she retweeted an op-ed that criticized the phrase ‘people who menstruate’ for not using the term ‘women,’ which she argued was essential for recognizing the lived reality of women.
Her views were met with accusations of transphobia, but Rowling refused to back down, maintaining that denying the concept of biological sex erases women’s experiences and realities.

In response, Radcliffe, Watson, and Grint expressed support for the transgender community, distancing themselves from Rowling’s views.
Radcliffe issued a statement through The Trevor Project, emphasizing that ‘transgender women are women’ and explaining that he felt compelled to speak out for the sake of young transgender people who identified with the Harry Potter series.
He’s also spoken out on Rowling’s incendiary comments towards himself, Watson, and Grint.
Watson also posted supportive messages on social media, reaffirming that ‘trans people are who they say they are’ and that they deserve to live their lives free from questioning.
Grint also expressed his disagreement with Rowling’s views, although his statements have been more private.

The tension between Rowling and the trio has escalated over time.
In 2024, Rowling shared her thoughts on the Cass Review, a report on gender identity services for minors, which she praised as the ‘most robust review of the medical evidence for transitioning children.’
This sparked further controversy as she claimed that the findings showed that children were being ‘irreversibly harmed’ by medical transitioning.
When a fan suggested that Radcliffe and Watson should publicly apologize, Rowling responded by saying she would not forgive them, accusing them of supporting a movement that, in her view, undermines women’s rights and supports the transitioning of minors.
Rowling’s recent actions have further strained her relationship with the actors.

On March 18, 2025, she responded to a question on social media about actors who ‘instantly ruin a movie’ by naming ‘three guesses,’ a comment many interpreted as a swipe at Radcliffe, Watson, and Grint.
Although she included laughing emojis to indicate humor, the response was widely seen as a direct jab at her former Harry Potter stars.
Despite the public divide, many fans have rallied behind Radcliffe, Watson, and Grint, supporting their right to express compassion and respect for transgender individuals.
One fan wrote: “She’s referencing Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. The three stars of the work that made her a billionaire.
“She’s mad at them because they don’t support her being transphobic on Twitter 24/7.”
Others, however, have continued to defend Rowling’s stance, emphasizing her right to speak freely about her views.
As of 2024, the rift remains unresolved, with the actors and Rowling continuing to hold differing opinions on the issues surrounding gender identity.
