Jelly Roll has laid out a list of reasons why he filed for divorce from wife Bunnie XO after a decade of marriage, as more details of their split emerge.

The couple, who separated in May, eloped for a Las Vegas wedding ceremony in August 2016, with Bunnie stepping into the role of stepmother to Jelly Roll’s two children, Bailee and Noah.

The singer, whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord, filed a motion to end his marriage with Bunnie, officially named Alisa Andrea DeFord, in Tennessee on May 18 of this year.

Their split has come as quite a surprise to fans, having always spoken incredibly favorably about one another in the public eye.

Just months ago, they put on an affectionate show at the Grammy Awards, with Jelly Roll even giving his wife an emotional thank you while accepting the award for Best Contemporary Country Album.

The 41-year-old is said to have filed just nine days after the pair separated, before going on to hire one of the most powerful attorneys in the state to oversee the divorce.

Jelly Roll enlists top divorce lawyer

Rose Palermo has made a name for herself in the world of celeb splits as someone not to be messed with.

She has previously represented Billy Ray Cyrus in his ugly divorce from Firerose, Kristin Cavallari in her split from Jay Cutler and country singer Maren Morris’ marriage end with Ryan Hurd.

According to court documents, Jelly Roll has asked the court to grant a Marital Dissolution Agreement that will allow ‘equitable division of the parties’ assets’. If granted, this means the couple’s properties and debts will be divided in a way that is fair, and not necessarily 50/50.

Together, the former couple own a Nashville-based mansion which includes a 500-acre farm outside the city.

Bunnie responds to divorce reports

Although influencer and podcast host Bunnie has not directly issued any kind of statement regarding the divorce, she has made a number of cryptic comments on social media.

In one post on Instagram, she wrote in the caption she was ‘getting her sparkle back,’ which many fans have interpreted as her moving on emotionally following her split from the country singer.

The 46-year-old also shared a video of herself walking past two garbage cans, which the camera zoned in on, with the text reading: “I hate when my exes ruin a good shot.” She also captioned the post with a trash emoji.

In a TikTok post, she pulled a suspicious face while writing: “Women’s intuition when that shii [sic] don’t add up,” suggesting there could be more to the split than first meets the eye.

An unconventional marriage

Despite both having earned successful careers in the last decade, Jelly Roll as a country artist and Bunnie as a successful media mogul, the pair’s early endeavors were widely funded by Bunnie’s previous career as a high end escort in Las Vegas and as an adult entertainer.

Money from this career was used to help fund Jelly Roll’s early albums and support his legal battle for custody of his daughter, as well as helping launch Bunnie’s Dumb Blonde podcast.

She initially transitioned her traditional s*x work into running a huge financially advantageous OnlyFans page, however she retired this in 2023.

In her book, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic, Bunnie spoke about the unconventional beginnings of their marriage.

“I think a lot of people need to realize that coming into this marriage, we weren’t a traditional bride and groom,” she penned.

“I was a working girl, and he was an ex-drug dealer – a gangster-turned-struggling artist.”

Jelly Roll lists reasons for divorce

According to court documents, Jelly Roll cited ‘irreconcilable differences’ as his reason for filing for divorce.

He went on to say he and Bunnie had been ‘unable to live together successfully as husband and wife.’

Several media outlets have reported factors such as the pair having differing visions for the future and increasingly differing personal brands.

A source told People, Jelly Roll has ‘changed a lot,’ in the decade since he met his wife.

“There wasn’t a moment where everything fell apart. They still love each other but were no longer on the same page about certain things, including what they wanted their future to look like,” they said.

“People saw the public side of things, but there was a lot more going on privately.”
