Jeremy Clarkson Makes Emotional Confession After Cancer Diagnosis
Jeremy Clarkson has made an emotional admission after a recent episode of Clarkson’s Farm revealed he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
The British TV presenter is now fortunately in remission after a blood test allowed medics to detect the aggressive form of cancer in its early stages last year.
During the tear-jerking penultimate episode of season 5 of the hit Amazon Prime farming show, Clarkson told co-stars Kaleb Cooper and Charlie Ireland he would not be able to complete the summer’s harvest as he needed to go into hospital for surgery to treat the cancer.
Both men were shocked by the revelation, with Cooper fighting back tears and telling Clarkson: “I don’t like this.”
Clarkson replied with characteristic dry humor: “I wasn’t thrilled.”
Trying to reassure his colleagues all would be okay, he told them: “I promise I’ll be fine,” while expressing his disappointment at not being able to complete the harvest.
Cooper urged him to look after himself, while Ireland wished him a speedy recovery.
Clarkson hinted at bad news on social media
Prior to the final two episodes of the fifth series coming out, the 66-year-old took to Instagram to warn fans they would be a difficult watch.
While many fans believed the warning was a reference to the fact Clarkson had previously announced that Tuberculosis (TB) had been found on Diddly Squat, the reality was far more devastating.
In addition to finally opening up about his cancer diagnosis, the show captured the moment Clarkson learned that the first cow he ever brought onto the farm would need to be destroyed while pregnant with two calves, following an inconclusive TB test.
The former Top Gear host was also forced to make the difficult decision to euthanize another calf who was unable to fight of pneumonia, with the vet explaining the animal likely hadn’t received enough colostrum from its mother shortly after birth.
Things then went from bad to worse the day after filming ended, with Clarkson having to call back the crew after Charlie received the devastatingly frustrating news that a postmortem examination had revealed the pregnant cow didn’t have TB at all.
The fifth series ended with Clarkson sitting in a hospital bed, revealing part of his treatment had not gone as planned.
“I’m going to be here for a little while. I don’t know what’s going to happen,” he said.
“If this is all successful, I’ll see you for season six. And if it isn’t, I won’t. Take care, everyone.”

Pleas for more men to get tested for prostate cancer
After the final episodes had been released by Amazon, Clarkson took to social media once again to tell his followers: “You will have noticed that I’m not dead.”
And with that, he had a very important message.
“The reason why I’m fine is because the doctors caught the prostate cancer early, and they caught it early because I got tested,” he said, revealing that 12,000 men die from prostate cancer every year in the UK.
Speaking to the Sunday Times, he said: “This is why I have to say to everybody who’s reading this, please, please, please go and get checked.
“It’s not uncomfortable, it’s not undignified. And it’s a no-brainer. I did, and that’s why I’m sitting here talking to you 11 months down the line.”
He reiterated the fact that many men choose not to be tested because they assume it will involve an intimate physical examination, when in actual fact, prostate cancer can now be detected via a blood test.
Clarkson makes emotional lifestyle confession
After his second brush with death, Clarkson has admitted that he has made some major lifestyle changes in a bid to elongate his life.
“I really like seeing my grandchildren. I want to watch them grow up,” he said, adding: “I drive much more slowly. I’m a bit of a dawdler. I go for walks a lot. I have vegetarian food.”
Given his Top Gear career and former public bashing of vegetarianism, it’s clear to see he is serious about keeping his health in check for his grandchildren.
The former motor journalist has three children with ex-wife Frances Cain, Emily, Finlo and Katya, and two grandchildren belonging to Emily and her husband Alex Andrew.
