Kat Von D Shares Outrageous Amount Of Time She’s Spent Blacking Out Tattoos After Converting To New Religion
Kat Von D has revealed just how long it took to cover up all of her famous tattoos after converting to a new religion.
Kat Von D, whose real name is Katherine von Drachenberg, rose to fame as a tattoo artist.
She began a TV career on the popular TLC show LA Ink, which ran for four seasons from 2007 to 2011.
Over her career, she has done work for some of the biggest A-listers out there – including Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, and more.
However, in more recent years, it’s Von D’s bizarre social media antics that have ensured she’s remained in the headlines.
And now, after converting to a brand new religion, Von D has been blacking out her iconic inkings – and it’s taken an unbelievably long time.

Last year, Von D announced that she had converted to Christianity after no longer practising witchcraft.
She even shared a video on Instagram of her baptism, with many family and friends in attendance.
In the video, the pastor says: “Katherine von Drachenberg, upon your profession of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in obedience to His Divine command, I baptise you, my sister, in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”
During an appearance on the Relatable podcast – hosted by Allie Beth Stuckey – the KVD Beauty founder spoke out about her conversion after ‘re-evaluating her perspectives’.
She went on: “I was just searching for answers and meaning in so many of the wrong places like most people do.
“[I was] going down the list of what I’m doing with my life and what my perspectives are and then it got to the part of my spirituality and that’s where I started really rethinking a lot of things.
“I came to this really awesome realisation that night that I don’t want these crutches in my life anymore – and that’s what I really saw them as. I just want Jesus.
“I feel like it’s a very narrow road. I feel like these breathing techniques or spellwork or nature worship – all of these things are just crutches. They’re not really my answer.”

Von D added that she’s ‘on fire for Jesus’ and her light isn’t ‘dimming out anytime soon’.
Following this 180 pivot, Von D also began covering up the tattoos that had made her famous.
She writes on Instagram: “I had many tattoos that represented a part of my life that no longer aligns with who I am today. Some people are fine with keeping these types of landmarks in time on them — I personally grew tired of waking up to them, and seeing those constant reminders every time I looked in a mirror.”

Von D adds: “Also, I really love the esthetic. I know it’s not for everyone but it is very satisfying to me to see a clean slate when I look down onto my arms.”
And as for how long it’s taken her to black out her inkings?
She confirms: “17 sessions, and almost 40 accumulative hours later, we are about 80% done with blacking out my body.”
Kat also confirms that she’s not done yet, and wants all of her tattoos totally blacked out.
