Kim Kardashian Sparks Outrage With ‘Tone-Deaf’ Bikini Tribute To Smash Mouth Singer
The Kardashians star has taken to Instagram and uploaded a snap seemingly paying tribute to the late Smash Mouth singer Steve Harwell – but people are outraged.
Kim Kardashian, 42, is no stranger to controversy and frequently finds herself at the receiving end of backlash.
From the time she revealed that she hired a pianist to wake up her kids in the morning to the time she wore Marilyn Monroe’s dress to the Met Gala – Kardashian knows how to trigger people.
But for some people, the SKIMS co-founder has gone too far this time.

Earlier this week, Smash Mouth fans were left devastated when it was confirmed that Steve Harwell – the band’s frontman – had died aged 56.
The rock group’s manager, Robert Hayes, confirmed in a statement to Rolling Stone that the musician had passed away ‘peacefully and comfortably’.
Following the saddening news, Kardashian took to Instagram on September 7 and uploaded a mirror selfie of herself wearing a skimpy gold bikini.
While the post garnered a staggering 1.6 million likes and thousands took to the comments and gushed over the reality TV star’s enviable figure, others had an issue with the caption.
It read: “All that glitters is gold.”

This caption makes reference to Smash Mouth’s biggest track – which features in the animated movie Shrek – ‘All Star’.
The lyric says: “Get the show on, get paid / And all that glitters is gold / Only shooting stars break the mould.”
Many people have taken to the comments and said that it is ‘tone-deaf’ of Kardashian to pay tribute to Harwell with a snap of herself in a bikini.

One fan pens: “Someone dies and you use their lyrics to post a thirst trap.”
Another adds: “Wow… this is what tone-deaf and ignorance looks like.”
“Your caption proves how shallow you are as a person,” remarks a third.
Somebody else advises: “Kim the Smash Mouth guy just died. Take this down.”
However, not everyone has criticised Kardashian over the bikini photo – with Smash Mouth the band stepping in.
Taking to X (formerly known as Twitter), the group retweeted the snap and said: “Only shooting stars.”
As some followers were saying Kardashian’s post was too soon after Harwell’s passing, they then endorsed a tweet that read: “People saying ‘too soon’ really didn’t know Steve and it shows lol.”
In response to this, one person has written: “If they don’t mind then nobody should – and I’m normally anti-Kardashian.”
In agreement, a second commented: “It’s what he would have wanted.”
