Lily-Rose Depp Slams Claims She’s Only Famous Because Of Dad Johnny Depp
Johnny Depp’s daughter, Lily-Rose, has slammed the claims that she’s only famous because of her dad.
Depp and Lily-Rose’s mother, French model Vanessa Paradis, were together for 14 years before separating in 2012.
As well as sharing the budding young actress, 23, they also share a son, 20-year-old Jack.
At just 16 years old, Lily-Rose bagged her first modelling campaign with Chanel and she’s gone on to appear in the British and French editions of Vogue magazine.
However, she’s also pursued a career in acting and so far, has appeared in 12 films.

In an interview with Elle magazine, Lily-Rose discussed the claims that she’s only having success because of her dad, who has appeared in many Hollywood blockbusters.
During the chat, the concept of ‘nepotism baby’ came up, which is when someone gives their family member a benefit through their own success.
When asked if she’d heard about the ‘nepo baby’ discussion, the model apparently laughed, replying: “I’m familiar.”
Lily-Rose continued: “People are going to have preconceived ideas about you or how you got there, and I can definitely say that nothing is going to get you the part except for being right for the part.”
The King star went on to say that her family might have helped get her ‘foot in the door’, but that there’s more to it than that.

Lily-Rose then said that the concept ‘doesn’t make any sense to her’.
Making a comparison, she said: “If somebody’s mom or dad is a doctor, and then the kid becomes a doctor, you’re not going to be like, ‘Well, you’re only a doctor because your parent is a doctor’. It’s like, ‘No, I went to medical school and trained’.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Lily-Rose stressed that she doesn’t want to be ‘defined by the men in her life’.
Referencing her father’s recent defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard, she said: “I also think that I’m not here to answer for anybody, and I feel like for a lot of my career, people have really wanted to define me by the men in my life, whether that’s my family members or my boyfriends, whatever.
“And I’m really ready to be defined for the things that I put out there.”
Many people have taken to Twitter after reading the interview and criticised Lily-Rose over the comments about her success.

One tweeted: “Many girls would probably kill to have what Lily-Rose Depp and Kendall Jenner have and to get the same amount of opportunities yet here they are complaining about how people just see them as nepo babies.”
Another added: “I like Lily-Rose Depp but girl, please, you know exactly what people mean by ‘nepotism baby’. It’s about the PRIVILEGE!
“At least own the fact that you’re privileged and that you’re known because of your parents. I think people would respect nepo babies more if they did that, to be honest.”
While a third commented: “Lily-Rose Depp is literally 5’3 walking for Chanel and she’s out here mad that people call her nepo baby, ma’am be f***ing for real.”
