Matthew Perry’s Last Seven Instagram Posts Were Eerily About Batman
Matthew Perry’s last seven Instagram posts were about Batman and this has left many fans with questions.
Perry played Chandler Bing in the hit TV sitcom Friends – which ran for 10 seasons. He was a fan favourite with many thanks to his sarcastic sense of humour.
Fans were left absolutely devastated when it was announced on October 28 that the actor had died aged 54.
The star was reportedly found unresponsive in his jacuzzi at his property in Los Angeles.
Law enforcement sources have said no drugs were found at the scene, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Additionally, the death is reportedly being treated as a ‘death investigation with no signs of foul play’.
At the time of writing, Perry’s cause of death has yet to be officially disclosed.

The actor’s heartbroken fans are now going through Perry’s Instagram page and have noticed that there’s a pattern – including in his last post which is a photo of him sitting in his jacuzzi.
They are all linked to the DC Comics superhero.
In these posts, Perry would refer to himself as ‘Mattman’ or make a reference to Batman.
In his final post, the caption reads: “Oh, so warm water swirling around makes you feel good? I’m Mattman.”
Perry’s other posts included a photo of a pumpkin with the Bat signal carved into it, red lights in the shape of the emblem, and a sign that read ‘Batman plays pickleball’.
He also shared videos – one of him watching The Batman on three separate screens and another which shows someone’s hand placing three grapes on a table – with the caption reading: “This is what I’ve had to eat today. I’m Mattman.”
Perry also wrote on X (previously known as Twitter): “Let’s make stigmas a stigma. -I’m Mattman #mentalhealth.”

A source close to the late actor tells People that Perry was just ‘having fun’ and ‘Mattman’ came from an idea that he had been working on for a series.
The 17 Again actor was a huge fan of the DC superhero and reportedly had a ‘Batcave’ in his Los Angeles home.
His love for Batman is apparent in his 2022 memoir, ‘Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible Thing’, with the final chapter even titled after the character.
Perry recalled that he would jokingly call his assistant ‘Alfred’ (Bruce Wayne’s butler) who, in response, would call him ‘Mr Wayne’ – as well as admitting that he used to imagine his father as Superman and himself as the dark knight.
To show how much of an impact Batman had on him, Perry’s last lines in the book make a reference to him, as he wrote: “The one thing I got right was that I never gave up, I never raised my hands and said ‘that’s enough I can’t take anymore, you win’.
“And because of that, I stand tall now, ready for whatever comes next.
“Someday you, too, might be called upon to do something important, so be ready for it. And when whatever happens, just think, ‘What would Batman do?’ and do that.”

There is also a storyline in Friends where Chandler is jealous of Ross for wearing Val Kilmer’s tuxedo from Batman Forever to his wedding.
However, much to his delight, he later finds out it wasn’t from the 1995 superhero film but rather from the premiere of the 1999 movie At First Sight.
In an interview with GQ, Perry spoke about his love for the DC superhero and admitted that he once bought a penthouse just because it resembled Bruce Wayne’s home in The Dark Knight.

This is where he revealed that he was building a dedicated Batman room in his new house – which he branded the ‘Mattcave’ – and it features a pool table, a large TV, a black sofa and loads of Batman merchandise.
When asked about his obsession with the superhero, he quipped ‘I am Batman’, before explaining: “Well, he’s a rich loner. We both drive black, cool cars.”
Elsewhere in GQ’s 10 Things I Can’t Live Without YouTube series, Perry went deeper into his love for Batman, explaining that it started with Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and Christian Bale’s portrayal of Bruce Wayne.
He added that Micheal Keaton is one of his favourite actors and liked his portrayal too. He also found Robert Pattinson’s recent take on the character ‘really really cool’.
