A star of Pitch Perfect is defending their age gap relationship.

Anna Camp has spoken out against criticism aimed at her relationship with girlfriend Jade Whipkey, who is 18 years her junior.

Camp, 42, widely recognized for her roles in Pitch Perfect and True Blood, confirmed in February 2025 that she is dating 24-year-old stylist Whipkey, making the announcement in a TikTok video shared by Mr Big USA.

In the video, she addressed her dating preferences with humor, saying: “Well, I don’t expect anything anymore because I’m dating a woman and it’s great.

The couple made their red carpet debut in June at the Los Angeles premiere of Camp’s new film Bride Hard.

Shortly after, Camp responded to public comments regarding their age difference.

In the comments section of a Pink News post covering their relationship, Camp defended their connection, stating: “I’ve dated men exactly my age and Jade is FAR more mature than any of them.”

She went on to explain: “We have more in common than anyone else I’ve ever dated and can literally talk about anything and everything.”

While acknowledging the public scrutiny, the actress remained gracious, adding: “Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and I’m wishing everyone well. Especially this Pride month.”

Camp’s message has been interpreted as both a defense of her personal life and a broader affirmation of LGBTQ+ relationships during Pride celebrations.

Before her current relationship, Camp was previously married to actor Michael Mosley.

The pair began dating when Camp was 21, eventually marrying in 2010 before divorcing in 2013.

Reflecting on their relationship during an appearance on Penn Badgley’s podcast Podcrushed, she described it as ‘a one-night stand that lasted seven years,’ noting that she underwent significant personal growth during that time.

Camp later married her Pitch Perfect co-star Skylar Astin in 2016, though the couple divorced in 2019.

Professionally, Camp continues to be active in television and film. Most recently, she appeared in the final season of Netflix’s thriller You, portraying twin sisters Maddie and Regan Lockwood.

Following the Bride Hard premiere, Whipkey expressed her support and affection on social media, commenting: “You crushed it honey, congrats. I’m so lucky to be by your side.”
