Rob Reiner’s Son Accused Of Murder Is Facing No Federal Charges
Rob Reiner’s son, Nick, who was arrested on suspicion of killing his parents earlier this week, will face no federal charges in a bombshell update.
It was reported earlier this week that the Emmy Award-winning director and his wife, Michele Singer, were found dead at their LA home.
The couple’s youngest daughter, Romy, found their bodies, after they had suffered multiple stab wounds, CBS reported.
Police statement
Speaking during a news conference yesterday (December 16), LA Police Department Chief Jim McDonnell said: “This case is heartbreaking and deeply personal, not only for the Reiner family and their loved ones, but for the entire city.
“We extend our deepest condolences to everyone affected by this tragedy.”
The Hollywood director worked on numerous classic films during his career, including When Harry Met Sally…, Stand By Me, This is Spinal Tap, Misery, and more.
And following the tragedy, hundreds of stars and fans alike have paid tribute to him and his wife, who he met on the iconic set of When Harry Met Sally.
“This is much more devastating”
Speaking on Jimmy Kimmel Live, former First Lady of the US, Michelle Obama, said: “We’ve known them for many, many years and we were supposed to be seeing them that night, and we got the news.
“Let me just say this, unlike some people: Rob and Michele Reiner are some of the most decent, courageous people you ever want to know.
“They are not deranged or crazed. What they have always been, are passionate people.”
Author Stephen King added: “I’m horrified and saddened by the death of Rob Reiner and Michele.
“Wonderful friend, political ally, and brilliant filmmaker (including two of mine).
“Rest in peace, Rob. You always stood by me.”
One fan added: “In a world where fewer and fewer people concern themselves with the plight of others, the loss of Rob Reiner, who cared deeply about humanitarian causes, feels that much more devastating.”
One of many who spoke out in the wake of his death was Donald Trump.
But many slammed The President for his ‘insensitive’ post, in which he noted that Reiner was ‘tortured and struggling.’

Reiner openly expressed opposition to the President, and Trump had a lot to say following the brutal tragedy.
US representative Marjorie Taylor Greene said: “Even if you don’t agree with Rob Reiner politically, there was no reason for his statement.
“It was absolutely completely below the office of the President. Classless and it was just wrong.”
Rob and Michele shared three children together, Jake, Nick, and Romy.
Nick Reiner arrested
But in a bombshell update from authorities, they announced earlier in the week that Reiner’s 32-year-old son, Nick, had been arrested on suspicion of the double homicide.
It’s been alleged that Nick slashed his parents throats while they were in bed, only for his younger sister to find their bodies the very next day.
Sources have suggested that he had an argument with his father the night before his death, and that he had been found acting strangely.
Reiner’s children release a statement
In a statement following the tragic news, their other children, Jake and Romy, have released a heartbreaking statement.
The devastated sibling wrote: “Words cannot even begin to describe the unimaginable pain we are experiencing every moment of the day.
“The horrific and devastating loss of our parents, Rob and Michele Reiner, is something that no one should ever experience.
“They weren’t just our parents; they were our best friends.”
Nick will not face federal charges
But in a shocking update, authorities have noted that their brother, Nick, will not face federal charges.
Instead, he will face state charges in California.
Prosecutors confirmed that they will file the charges including two counts of first degree murder with a special circumstance of multiple murders, and the special allegation that he used a dangerous weapon.
District attorney Nathan Hochman suggested that a death penalty sentence could also be on the cards, as well as life imprisonment.
