Donald Trump’s ‘Disgusting’ Post On Rob Reiner’s Death Sparks Outrage
Donald Trump has come under fire after launching a political attack on filmmaker Rob Reiner following the director’s death.
The President has been accused of turning a violent family tragedy into a personal rant.
The comments, posted on Trump’s social media account as news of Reiner’s death spread, triggered widespread anger online and renewed scrutiny of Trump’s habit of targeting political enemies even in moments of national shock.
A tragedy that stunned Hollywood
Reiner, one of Hollywood’s most influential figures, was found dead alongside his wife Michele at their Brentwood, Los Angeles home on Sunday, December 14.
He was 78. Michele was 68.
Police later confirmed the couple’s son, Nick Reiner, 32, had been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with their deaths.
He remains in custody as investigators continue to examine the case.

The deaths sent shockwaves through the entertainment industry, with actors, directors, and fans mourning a man whose films helped define multiple generations of American cinema.
Trump weighs in as tributes pour in
As condolences and tributes flooded social media, Trump chose to address Reiner’s death publicly – but not in the way many expected.
Rather than expressing sympathy, the President’s message quickly shifted focus to his long-running feud with the director, prompting immediate backlash from across the political spectrum.
Within hours, critics were accusing him of exploiting the tragedy to relitigate personal grievances.
Celebrities react with anger
Several high-profile figures responded directly to Trump’s remarks.
Actor Patrick Schwarzenegger, son of Arnold, who also served as the Republican governor of California, described the post as ‘disgusting and vile.’
Television host Whoopi Goldberg also spoke out, describing Reiner as a friend and praising his character, before questioning Trump’s behavior.

“I don’t understand the man in the White House,” Goldberg said. “He spoke at length about Charlie Kirk and about caring, and then this is what he puts out.
“Have you no shame? No shame at all? Can you get any lower? I don’t think so.”
Political backlash spills across party lines
The criticism soon extended beyond Hollywood.
California governor Gavin Newsom reacted bluntly, writing online: “This is a sick man.”
Democratic congressman Maxwell Alejandro Frost called Trump ‘a despicable piece of garbage,’ while Connecticut senator Chris Murphy said Trump had ‘lost it’ in the way he framed Reiner’s death.
Importantly, criticism also came from Republicans.
Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene urged restraint, writing that the deaths were ‘a family tragedy, not about politics or political enemies.’
Kentucky congressman Thomas Massie echoed that view, calling Trump’s comments ‘inappropriate and disrespectful.’

A feud years in the making
Reiner had long been one of Trump’s most vocal critics, repeatedly questioning his fitness for office and warning about the dangers of authoritarianism in the US.
In interviews before his death, Reiner argued that American democracy was at risk if political divisions continued to deepen.
Despite his outspoken views, Reiner also consistently condemned political violence, stressing that it could never be justified regardless of ideology.
In response to the killing of Charlie Kirk, he told Piers Morgan Uncensored: “It’s beyond belief what happened to him.
“That should never happen to anybody. I don’t care what your political beliefs are. That’s not acceptable. That’s not a solution to solving problems.”

Trump refuses to soften his stance
As outrage grew, Trump showed no sign of backing down.
Speaking to reporters at an unrelated event following his remarks, he dismissed Reiner entirely, claiming he had never been a fan and accusing the filmmaker of being ‘deranged.’
He also repeated claims that Reiner had damaged his own career by obsessing over Trump and promoting what Trump described as false narratives about Russia.
The post that sparked the outrage
It was Trump’s original social media post, however, that triggered the strongest reaction.
In the post, Trump said: “A very sad thing happened last night in Hollywood.
“Rob Reiner, a tortured and struggling, but once very talented movie director and comedy star, has passed away, together with his wife, Michele, reportedly due to the anger he caused others through his massive, unyielding, and incurable affliction with a mind crippling disease known as TRUMP DERANGEMENT SYNDROME, sometimes referred to as TDS.

“He was known to have driven people CRAZY by his raging obsession of President Donald J. Trump, with his obvious paranoia reaching new heights as the Trump Administration surpassed all goals and expectations of greatness, and with the Golden Age of America upon us, perhaps like never before.
“May Rob and Michele rest in peace!”
For many critics, the comments crossed a line even by Trump’s standards, transforming a moment of national shock into a deeply polarizing political spectacle.
