A representative for the ‘I Don’t Wanna Lose You’ singer has now confirmed her cause of death.
According to the Daily Mail, Turner died from natural causes.
Her publicist, Bernard Doherty, told the news outlet: “Tina Turner, the ‘Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll has died peacefully today at the age of 83 after a long illness in her home in Kusnacht near Zurich, Switzerland.
“With her, the world loses a music legend and a role model.”
Turner has been open about her health condition, including her battle with intestinal cancer – which led to kidney failure – and reportedly suffered from high blood pressure for over four decades.
Shortly before her death, the ‘We Don’t Need Another Hero’ singer candidly confessed that she had put herself in ‘great danger’ by not taking her hypertension diagnosis in 1978 seriously.

In an Instagram post celebrating World Internation Kidney Day, she penned: “My kidneys are victims of my not realising that my high blood pressure should have been treated with conventional medicine.
“I have put myself in great danger by refusing to face the reality that I need daily, lifelong therapy with medication.”
In what is believed to be her final public interview, Turner defiantly told The Guardian that she was not afraid of death.
When asked how she wanted to be remembered, the icon responded: “As the Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
“As a woman who showed other women that it is OK to strive for success on their own terms.”
Then when asked if anything frightened her, Turner answered: “Nothing. This is life’s full adventure and I embrace and accept every day with what it brings.”
In 2017, Turner’s husband Erwin Bach – a German music executive – donated his kidney to her.
However, she continued to suffer from mild symptoms such as nausea and dizziness following the procedure.
Speaking to European Kidney Health Alliance, Turner revealed: “The months after the transplantation were marked by a never-ending up and down.
“From time to time, my body tried to reject the donor’s kidney, as it frequently happens after transplantation. Every so often, this required more hospital admissions.”

She married Bach in 2013 after 30 years of dating.
Turner was previously married to singer and bandmate Ike Turner.
The pair’s relationship was highly publicised due to Ike’s abusive tendencies towards his wife.
In her 2018 memoir, she frankly revealed: “He used my nose as a punching bag so many times that I could taste blood running down my throat when I sang.”
