Charlie Hunnam has spoken about the possibility of returning to play his Sons of Anarchy character Jax Teller.

The Gentleman star, 42, told Access that he wants to return as the biker, despite the character dying at the end of the show.

Hunnam said: “Seeing as you ask, I have an idea that I’m exploring in its infancy that [Jax’s return] could be a possibility.”

He continued: “And it would be something that I’d be incredibly excited about. So we’re sort of, like I said, we’re in the infancy of exploring the viability of the idea but next time I talk to you hopefully I’ll have information on that.”

Fans of Sons Of Anarchy have been discussing Hunnam’s potential return as Jax on social media.

One viewer posted: “It’d be great to see him reprise the role as Jax from SOA!”

Another individual said: “Yes! Yes! Yes! Interested for sure.”

“I’m most def interested! Let’s push it! Let’s gooooo,” added a viewer.

The show was a resounding success since it first aired in 2008, with an overall Rotten Tomatoes score of 91%.

Season 4 of Sons of Anarchy even achieved a 100% score on the popular film and TV review site.

Since Sons Of Anarchy ended in 2014, there has been a spinoff set in the universe called Mayans MC, which has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 86% and recently had its fifth season renewed.

A prequel series exploring the origins of the Anarchy bike club has also been proposed.

However, plans for this spinoff have been put on hold after Sons of Anarchy and Mayans MC creator Kurt Sutter was fired after having a number of complaints regarding his ‘unprofessional behaviour’.

In an email obtained by Deadline, he writes: “They claim the intel suggests that I created a climate of hostility, favouritism and enabled a set where no one felt safe or appreciated.

“I’m not saying it was all sunshine and roses, but I’m close with most of those guys and they love going to work.

“I’m also not sure how, having been on set… maybe three times all season, I was able to singularly create that much damage.”

He added that he felt under pressure from bosses who were getting involved with the creative process of Mayans MC.

Sutter wrote: “I genuinely feared for the creative future of the storytelling. So I pushed back. Hard.

“The truth is, the suits wanted me gone. I stepped on toes and bruised egos.”

While it’s unclear whether Hunnam will ever return to the Sons of Anarchy universe, his intention to play Jax Teller once again will certainly excite fans.
