People are being urged not to ‘romanticise’ notorious serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer just because he’s being played by Evan Peters in the Netflix true crime series

Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story follows the infamous killer who was convicted of murdering 17 men and boys during a killing spree that took place between 1978 and 1991.

However, despite its horrific context, many Monster viewers have taken to Twitter and said they can’t help but still find Peters ‘hot’ in the role.

One viewer tweeted: “Honestly though why is Evan Peters still low-key hot as a serial killer?”

“They didn’t have to cast someone as hot as Evan Peters to play a serial killer,” added another. “That s*** was on purpose.”

While a third admitted: “Evan Peters… is literally so hot and I’m appreciating how he looks in it, but obviously, the actual serial killer is a disgusting person and I don’t want to associate him with my feelings for Evan Peters.”

“Why is Evan Peters so hot as Jeffrey Dahmer,” someone else commented.

These comments have caused outrage on Twitter, with many calling for people remember his victims.

One Twitter user weighed in saying: “Dahmer is out, let’s not romanticise Jeffrey Dahmer just because he is played by Evan Peters. Remember the victims.”

They went on to add: ‘It’s OK to praise Evan Peters for his performance, he is a brilliant actor. But do not romanticise him in the role of Jeffrey Dahmer.”

Another said: “Jeffrey Dahmer was a real monster, not a person but a monster, he killed people.

“So you guys truly look disgusting and crazy when you say he’s hot because he’s played by Evan Peters.”

Sadly this isn’t the first time this has happened – as many fans shared similar views when Zac Efron portrayed Ted Bundy for the Netflix film Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.

Many viewers said they found the infamous serial killer attractive simply because Efron was playing him.

Others have taken to the social media platform and expressed their concern for the American Horror Story star, as they’re concerned for his mental health after playing such a dark role.

“Praying for Evan Peters mental health because— sheesh #DahmerNetflix,” one tweeted.

Another added: “I hope Evan Peters is getting therapy after this portrayal cause this role is crazy.”

Fans wouldn’t be wrong in thinking that Peters has been affected by playing the role, as he previously said: “I was very scared about all of the things that Dahmer did, and diving into that and trying to commit to [playing this character] was absolutely going to be one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do in my life because I wanted it to be very authentic.”
