There’s a highly rated – but underappreciated – Tom Cruise movie that people are saying is ‘forgotten’.

Cruise, 61, is one of Hollywood’s biggest and highest-paid stars and he’s featured in a number of movies, including the Missing Impossible and Top Gun franchise, Jerry Maguire and War of the Worlds.

But there’s one that goes under the radar – despite its star-studded cast that includes the likes of Jamie Foxx, Jada Pinkett Smith, Mark Ruffalo, Jason Statham and Javier Bardem.

Collateral, released in 2004, follows a taxi driver named Max Durocher (played by Foxx) who is driving around a man called Vincent (Cruise).

The taxi driver is offered a high fee to drive his passenger to various locations. However, he soon finds himself hostage – as it turns out his passenger is a hitman who is on a killing spree.

Grossing over $200 million at the box office, the movie was considered a box office hit and it even made its way onto the National Board of Review’s top ten films of the year.

Plus, Foxx earned a nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the Oscars.

Despite the movie receiving a ton of praise, it’s rarely talked about when discussing the best action-thriller films to watch.

However, Cruise’s fans love it and many have taken to social media to recommend others give it a go.

One fan writes: “WOW. One of, if not THE best role Tom Cruise has played.

“He definitely needs to be in more villainous roles. I love a good movie that makes you root for the bad guy, even though you know he’s wrong.

“The ending was spot on, everything about this movie had me on the edge of my seat, and left me with a feeling of satisfaction but also needing more.”

A second person says: “Collateral is not only one of my favourite movies but an underrated gift to cinema.”

While a third fan comments: ” This movie changed my life forever, words can’t describe how much I love this masterpiece.

“In my opinion best Tom Cruise role ever made… also my favourite movie of all time!!”

Talk about praise eh?

Somebody else has brought up how their girlfriend – who is apparently a huge Tom Cruise fan – had never heard of it.

“Most people I know have no idea what Collateral is. My girlfriend is a self-proclaimed Tom Cruise fan, found out she has no idea what it is recently,” they write.

“It’s Cruise’s 16th highest-grossing movie (domestic). And many that grossed less, like Risky Business, Eyes Wide Shut, and Magnolia have all had a larger cultural impact.

“I’d say people discuss Edge of Tomorrow more even.”
