Ex-This Morning star Eamonn Holmes has torn into Phillip Schofield and his co-host Holly Willoughby after the presenter revealed he was leaving the show.

Holmes, 63, is a former presenter on the daytime TV programme.

He worked alongside his wife Ruth Langsford, 63, and they would present the Friday show – along with filling in for Schofield, 61, and Willoughby, 42, whenever they were away.

After Schofield announced his imminent department from the programme, the GB News decided to share his thoughts – and he’s not held back.

During a newspaper review segment on the show, co-host Isabel Webster brings up how Schofield is stepping down This Morning after being involved with the show for over 20 years.

Holmes then snaps back, claiming that he was actually sacked.

He alleges: “Oh please just stop this. He was sacked.

“All this nonsense of ‘I’ve decided to step down’. I’m sure you did – here’s your P45 now step down.”

Holmes then goes on to mock Willoughby’s statement about Schofield leaving – in which she penned that the ‘sofa won’t be the same’ without him.

The GB News host claims Willoughby wanted the Dancing On Ice presenter gone too.

Continuing to grill the pair, Holmes says: “Well she wanted him not there. So what is she moaning about? They deserve each other I suppose.”

He adds: “She says ‘I thank him for all his knowledge, experience and humour’. All the things that she didn’t have when she came to the show.

“Well, it’s true! I would call that stabbing in the back.”

The GB News host then proceeds to speak about his time working with them and says that he could ‘give a list’ of the pair’s ‘lack of kindness’.

Holmes says: “I could give you a list of the lack of kindness and lack of awareness from both of them

“How they would socialise, and the people around them. You just have to look at my phone, full of people who are glad to see the back of the two of them.”

The first episode since Schofield’s departure was hosted by Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary and they both paid a short tribute at the start show for their former co-host.

O’Leary thanked Schofield for the work he’s put in to make This Morning a success.

While Hammond described him as ‘one of the best live television broadcasters this country has ever had’ – before wishing him all the best for the future.

ITV have confirmed that Willoughby will return to the show on June 5 after taking an early half-term holiday.

The studio has also said that they are searching for a new co-host to present the show.
