Henry Cavill Dropped From New Superman Film By DC Studios
Henry Cavill has been dropped from the new Superman film following a meeting with DC Studios.
The 39-year-old Enola Holmes star first appeared as the iconic superhero in 2013’s Man Of Steel.
He then appeared in Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016) and Justice League (2017).
Since then, Cavill’s future as the character has seemingly been up in the air.

Over the years, there had been conflicting reports about his role in the DC universe.
However, in October 2022, Cavill made a surprising cameo in Black Adam and announced in an Instagram post that he was returning to the role.
But that return has been short-lived as the actor has now announced that he will no longer be playing Superman in future DC projects.

Cavill shared the news with his followers on Instagram after meeting with the new chairmen of DC Studios, Peter Safran and Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn.
He wrote: “I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman.
“After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life.
“The changing of the guard is something that happens.
“I respect that.”

He continued: “James and Peter have a universe to build. I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck and the happiest of fortunes.
“For those who have been by my side through the years we can mourn for a bit, but then we must remember… Superman is still around.
“Everything he stands for still exists, and the examples he sets for us are still there! My turn to wear the cape has passed, but what Superman stands for never will.
“It’s been a fun ride with you all, onwards and upwards.”
Gunn further elaborated on the news in a Twitter post, with the director tweeting: “Among those on the slate is Superman.
“In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill.
“But we just had a great meeting with Henry and we’re big fans and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.”
News of Cavill’s departure from the role has upset many fans, especially after they were anticipating his return to the role.

One person wrote: “Imagine getting to play your dream role again after not playing it for five years just to get a call saying you’re out again, I can’t imagine what Henry feels.”
Another added: “Dude pretty much got shelved as Superman for years until finally 2 months ago when he announced his return, only for him to lose it all again.”
“We this a damn shame. So sorry to hear this man…… Don’t know what to say,” added a third.
Despite no longer playing Superman, Cavill remains one of the favourites to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond.

Many believe he would be perfect to be the next 007.
Cavill himself has admitted that he would like to play Bond one day, having previously told GQ magazine: “We’ll see what happens. But yes, I would love to play Bond, it would be very, very exciting.
“If Barbara [Broccoli] and [producer Michael G. Wilson] were interested in that, I would absolutely jump at the opportunity.”
