Mindhunter Star Shares Exciting Update On Season 3
A Mindhunter actor has offered fans an exciting update on season three of the show.
Mindhunter, which has a 97% rating on the review-aggregation website Rotten Tomatoes, follows FBI agents Holden Ford (Jonathan Groff) and Bill Trench (Holt McCallany).
The TV show first debuted on Netflix in October 2017, with a ten-episode run that both viewers and critics absolutely loved.
Mindhunter’s second season was released by Netflix in 2019 – but shortly after, fans were hit with some sad news about the future of the thriller series.
Netflix announced that the show was being put on indefinite hiatus in January 2020 as Fincher wanted to pursue other projects, but may ‘revisit [the series] in the future’, as per TV Line.
But then in February 2023, Fincher confirmed that the series was officially over, as per Collider.
However, this week, fans have been offered an exciting update on Mindhunter season three…

Mindhunter covers the founding of the Behavioral Science Unit in the late 1970s and the beginning of criminal profiling.
The show was directed by Fincher, who is an absolute thriller icon known for directing crime films like Seven, Zodiac, and Gone Girl.
The series focused on infamous criminals such as Charles Manson, Ed Kemper, and Wayne Williams in its beloved first two seasons.
Many were totally invested and ready for season three, which made Fincher’s comments so upsetting.
Speaking to the French outlet Le Journal du Dimanche, he explained: “I’m very proud of the first two seasons. But it’s a very expensive show and, in the eyes of Netflix, we didn’t attract enough of an audience to justify such an investment [for season three].”
He continued: “They took risks to get the show off the ground, gave me the means to do Mank the way I wanted to do it, and they allowed me to venture down new paths with The Killer.
“It’s a blessing to be able to work with people who are capable of boldness.”
Fans were absolutely devastated by the news and took to social media to share their dismay at the time.

One wrote: “Absolutely brilliant show, just can’t get my head around why there’s not another series or more.”
Another agreed: “If Netflix was a real one they would’ve let everyone know Mindhunter was cancelled so at least someone like HBO could buy and revive it but no.
“They cancelled it so they could hold on to it for nothing.”
But now, there’s been an exciting update about season three for Mindhunter fans.
This week, Mindhunter star McCallany told Awards Daily that Fincher is considering revising the show!
The actor said: “I’ve heard that David’s thought about it. I’m not saying it’s going to come back, but what I am saying is that if it comes back, I’m coming back with it. You can take that to the bank, but it’ll depend on what David wants to do.”
He did his best to manage expectations, adding: “It’s been a few years now, so it’s probably unlikely, but just even that he would think about it is a hopeful sign.”
