Netflix fans are urging people not to watch a terrifying horror series late at night.

The streaming platform is finding huge success with horror shows, such as The Haunting of Hill House which quickly became a fan favourite.

But now, people are raving over another series that isn’t for the faint-hearted.

It’s said to be a combination of creepy classics such as The Blair Witch Project, Midsommar, and Frequency.

Issuing a warning about the series, one fan writes: “I’m telling you don’t watch it at night. You all stay safe.”

Another adds: “I watched it last month and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. This show will dig under your skin until you’re not sure what’s real.”

“This was an amazing, skin-crawling psychological horror show,” a third says.

The series, which has an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score of 87% and IMDb score of 7.3/10, is also being praised by critics.

Bl**dy Disgusting‘s Meagan Navarro wrote: “The series starts strong and keeps you invested throughout thanks to its eerie sound, otherworldly mysteries, unique structure, and cult conspiracies.”

Stephanie Malone for Morbidly Beautiful said: “Visually striking and gorgeously cinematic, an unnervingly haunting score ensures a constant state of nervous unease. With echoes of series greats like LOST and TWIN PEAKS, it asks intriguing questions and leaves you ravenous for answers.”

The horror series is based on a podcast of the same name, exploring rituals, stories, and sound.

Netflix adapted the popular audio show into a TV series. Upon release in 2022, it was said to have been watched for 129.47 million hours.

The show’s description reads: “An archivist takes a job restoring damaged videotapes and gets pulled into the vortex of a mystery involving the missing director and a demonic cult.”

Developed by Rebecca Sonnenshine, known for The Boys and The Vampire Diaries, the horror series stars Mamoudou Athie, Dina Shihabi, Evan Jonigkeit, Julia Chan, Ariana Neal, Matt McGorry, and Martin Donovan.

In an interview with TheWrap, Sonnenshine discussed creating Archive 81 and how it’s ‘very different from the podcast.’

She said: “But it also hopefully very much captures the spirit of it and follows a general same kind of story.

“But the thing that we wanted to do was really establish these two characters, Dan and Melody, as characters that had a drive and a quest that they were on that would parallel each other, and that’s sort of where we started.”

Although the show received rave reviews from fans, and praise from critics, and made it into Netflix’s weekly Top 10 ratings for originals, it was sadly canceled in the same year of its release, as per Deadline.

Still, season one is definitely worth the watch!
