People Refuse To Eat Sliced Ham After Finding Out How It’s Made
After finding out sliced ham is made, many people are refusing to eat it.
Sliced ham is a popular food item that is often used in sandwiches, salads, and cheese boards.
However, a recent viral TikTok video has revealed the unappetising truth about how it’s made.
You might think sliced ham is exactly that – slices of the larger piece of meat we might stick in the oven as part of a Sunday roast.
But that’s not quite the case.

The video shows a factory worker scraping pink goo into a yellow tub, which is then left to air out and flatten.
The tubs are then transported into an oven, where they emerge looking brown and crispy.
After this, they are sliced up by a machine, revealing the pink insides.
This process is used to create ham slices from meat that has been mechanically recovered.
Describing the creation process, dietitian Carrie Ruxton said: “All of the little bits that are left over on the bone will be blasted off with high-pressure water.”
When it comes to rolled ham, many people consider it to be a better option when uncooked.
However, it’s important to note that the meat used in rolled ham can often be compiled together from several different animals.
In light of this, Ruxton advises individuals to opt for the most expensive meat they can afford and consume a bit less of it.

The video has garnered over eight million views on TikTok, with thousands of condemnatory comments.
One viewer asked: “What in the Ghost Busters pink slime surprise is that?”
Another wrote: “What in the hell type of chemicals are they using to be suited up like that?”
A third viewer commented: “I give up. I’m just going to be hungry.”
However, this is not the first time that a behind-the-scenes look has left people without an appetite.
For example, many were left disturbed when they saw how crabsticks are made.

Broadly speaking, the grey meat is comprised of a species called Alaskan pollock.
That meat is then fed into a mixer, where it is mashed up, then churned up with other ingredients such as egg whites and wheat, which is then mixed up once again.
If you’re looking for an alternative to sliced ham, you could even try making your own ham by bringing a pork roast.
Brining takes several days, but it’s essential to the process of making a good ham.
After choosing a pork roast to make into ham, the first thing you need to do is brine the ham. Some people call this ‘curing’ a ham – bringing is a type of curing.
Good things come to those who wait!
