Forest Whitaker’s ex-wife Keisha Nash-Whitaker has tragically died aged 51.

Whitaker, 62, is an actor, producer and director who has received several accolades throughout his career, including an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards.

He’s starred in films such as The Last King of Scotland and The Butler.

From 1996 to 2021, Whitaker was married to model and actress Keisha, whom he met on the set of the 1994 film Blown Away.

They shared two children: daughters Sonnet Whitaker, 27, and True Whitaker, 25, with each having a child from a previous relationship.

The Hollywood star filed for divorce from Keisha in 2018, citing irreconcilable differences, as per AP.

It has now been announced that Whitaker’s ex-wife has passed away.

Keisha’s daughter, True, shared the devastating news on her Instagram story on Wednesday.

Alongside images of her mother when she was younger, True penned: “Goodbye mommy. I love you forever and beyond.

“The most beautiful woman in the world… thank you for teaching me every single thing I know,” she continued. “I’ll see you in my dreams and I’ll feel you in my heart.”

At the time of writing, Keisha’s cause of death has yet to be confirmed.

After hearing the sad news of Keisha’s passing, fans have taken to social media and paid tribute.

One fan writes: “My condolences to Keisha Nash-Whitaker’s family and friends. My prayers are with you.”

Another adds: “Condolences and prayers to the family.”

“RIP Keisha Whitaker. Sending love and light to the Whitaker family and friends,” pens somebody else.

A source tells the Daily Mail that Keisha had been in and out of hospital for the past few months with intestinal issues following a battle with anorexia.

Anorexia is an eating disorder that is characterised by low body weight, an intense fear of gaining weight and a distorted perception of weight, as per Mayo Clinic.

Keisha’s weight reportedly caused concern back in 2014 when the actress attended the Film Independent Spirit Awards with her husband while displaying a thin figure.

The actress was estimated to have lost around 35Ibs (two and a half stone), according to RadarOnline.

Whitaker reportedly supported Keisha during these difficult times.

And following the pair’s divorce, they apparently remained on good terms – ‘there was no need not to remain friendly’, a source added.

Keisha’s IMDb page says she was born on March 8, 1972, in Boston, Massachusetts.

She appeared in the 2004 film Proud and she also served as an executive producer on the 2008 movie Kassim the Dream.

As well as being a model and actress, Keisha – who also had a daughter named Autumn – was an entrepreneur as she ran her own children’s clothing line and a cosmetic line called Kissable Couture.

She told O, The Oprah Magazine about launching her business in 2008.

“I’ve always been very ambitious. When my kids were younger, I tried to start a clothing line for children,” Keisha said.

“But you have to be really committed to a new business, and at that time I was more focused on being a mother. Now, with Forest’s success and my kids being older, I can set and achieve higher goals.”
