Forest Whitaker is an actor, director, and producer, who has been honoured with an Academy Award, Golden Globe Award and two Screen Actors Guild Awards over his long career.

You may recognise him from films such as The Last King of Scotland and The Butler.

In 1994, Whitaker met model and actress Keisha Nash on the set of the action thriller film Blown Away.

The pair married in 1996 but filed for in December of 2018.

Tragically, in December 2023, Nash’s untimely passing was announced.

Keisha’s daughter, True, shared the devastating news on her Instagram story.

Alongside images of her mother throughout her life, True penned: “Goodbye mommy. I love you forever and beyond.

“The most beautiful woman in the world… thank you for teaching me every single thing I know.”

She concluded: “I’ll see you in my dreams and I’ll feel you in my heart.”

She followed this with a heartbreaking post, writing: “The funniest, brightest and most beautiful in the entire universe. I love you mom and nothing will ever change that. I already feel you in my heart, your power, your glow, your fierceness.”

She added: “It’s going to be hard to navigate this world without you physically, although you’re now my most powerful angel, I know you’ll guide me through this life. I miss everything about you, I miss the laughter. Thank you for being you. Thank you for Everything. My butterfly, my lady bug, my mom. I love you.”

Fans were quick to flood social media with tributes to Nash.

One fan writes: “My condolences to Keisha Nash-Whitaker’s family and friends. My prayers are with you.”

Another adds: “Condolences and prayers to the family.”

“RIP Keisha Whitaker. Sending love and light to the Whitaker family and friends,” a third agrees.

At the time of Nash’s death, a source told the Daily Mail that Keisha had been in and out of hospital for the past few months with intestinal issues following a battle with anorexia.

And now, Nash’s cause of death has been confirmed.

TMZ has revealed that Nash died as a result of alcoholic liver disease.

Her death certificate notes that she lived with the disease for ‘years’ and also listed acute renal failure (which is a symptom of anorexia) as another major factor that may have contributed to her passing.

Our thoughts are with Keisha’s loved ones.

Rest in peace.
