Have you ever noticed a little freckle on your wrist? Well, guess what? You’re not alone.

Turns out, loads of people out there have noticed the exact same thing.

This whole discovery took the Twitter world by storm not too long ago, with thousands of people jumping on the bandwagon after the original post went viral.

So, why on earth do so many of us have the same freckle in the same spot?

Let’s dive into a couple of theories.

One expert in the field, Dr Joyce Park, a dermatologist, gave her two cents on the matter when Time magazine caught up with her in 2019.

She was totally amused by the whole thing, but she had a pretty plausible explanation up her sleeve – or should we say, on her wrist?

According to Dr Park: “Freckles are basically areas of the skin where you have more pigment or melanin deposition from UV radiation.

“The forearms, the wrists and the hands are really common spots to get that exposure.

“If you think about it, when you’re driving, that side of your wrist and hand are just constantly being exposed to sunlight, even if you’re wearing sleeves.”

But not everyone agrees with Dr Park’s take.

Enter Dr Joshua Zeichner, another skin expert who dropped a different bomb on the freckle mystery.

He thinks those wrist spots aren’t freckles at all – they’re moles, or as some folks call them, ‘beauty marks’.

These little pigment-producing cell overgrowths can pop up anywhere on your skin, not just on your wrist, and it’s apparently super common to have at least one of these on your arms.

Sure, sun exposure might play a part, but moles have a knack for showing up wherever they please, like little rebels with a cause.

So, it seems there’s some debate among the derma crowd, but one thing they all agree on is that you’ve got to look after your skin.

It’s essential to keep an eye on those freckles or moles.

If anything looks funky or changes in size or shape, it’s best to have a chat with your doctor.

Better safe than sorry, right?

Oh, and sunscreen – let’s not forget about that.

It’s like a knight in shining armour for your skin, protecting you from those troublesome UV rays.

Unless, of course, you’ve been enjoying the UK lately, where the sun seems to be MIA most of the time.

But hey, we all know how unpredictable weather can be, so when the sun does show its face, lather on that sunscreen like there’s no tomorrow.

So, there you have it – the curious case of the wrist freckle (or is it a mole?).

We may not have a definitive answer, but at least we know we’re not alone in sporting these little marks.
