Groom Reportedly Dies 10 Minutes After Getting Married

A groom reportedly ‘died just 10 minutes’ after getting married.

Johnnie Mae Davis tied the knot to Toraze Davis, 48, in Nebraska, US, on June 19 – a day which is also known as Juneteenth.

However, the groom’s heart stopped around one hour into the ceremony and he died ‘within seconds’, reports CBS affiliate KCCI News in Des Moines, Iowa.

This couple rushed their wedding plans so a dying mother could attend their special day…

Monica Miller, who works with Johnnie Mae at ECO Supportive Living, says: “It was the happiest day of Toraze’s life. I could just see the smile on his face and how happy he was.

“It [was] just his energy I just knew that he was just, it was a great day for him.”

Following the tragedy, Miller has launched a GoFundMe page which aims to raise $100,000 to assist with ‘burial expenses for Toraze and money to help the new bride with their children’.

The fundraiser bio reads: “Those of you that know Johnnie Mae know how beautiful she is inside and out.

“Sadly, Johnnie Mae unexpectedly lost her husband yesterday on their wedding day. Both Johnnie Mae and Toraze planned on living the rest of their lives together. Unfortunately, Toraze gave his last breath shortly after saying ‘I do’.

“All our hearts are aching for Mrs Davis and her children. We are asking that you donate towards the burial expenses for Toraze and money to help the new bride with their children.

“As you know, Johnnie Mae always helps others; this is our time to help her. Please pray for her and The Davis Family!”

At the time of writing, over $21,000 has been raised.

According to reports, Davis died from a fatal blood clot just moments after his nuptials.

Wedding guest Jewel Roberson tells KCCI News says that the incident ‘was not survivable’, adding: “His heart stopped for the first time at 4:35pm – just an hour after the ceremony had begun.

“In a second. It happened within seconds.”

The couple were said to be looking forward to their special day after recently suffering two consecutive losses, including Johnnie Mae’s father.

Their nuptials are believed to have been attended by Davis and Johnnie Mae’s children, parents, family and friends.
