Henry Cavill is leaving The Witcher after three seasons and he’s set to be replaced by Liam Hemsworth.
The Enola Holmes star, who plays the titular character of Geralt of Rivia in the Netflix hit show, has said he will be ‘laying down his medallion’ in a statement via Instagram.
He penned: “My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for season 4.
“In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf.

The Last Song star wrote: “As a Witcher fan I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia.
“Henry Cavill has been an incredible Geralt, and I’m honoured that he’s handing me the reins and allowing me to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter of his adventure.”

However, others have taken to the comments and insisted that the programme won’t be the same without Cavill.
“This ain’t Doctor Who,” one remarked.
A second person commented: “Henry Cavill is Geralt Of Rivia. Without Henry, there is no Witcher.
“I won’t be watching after season 3. Might as well cancel the series. It will probably get cancelled when the viewings drop.”
While another penned: “And just like that… The Witcher is dead.”
Someone else said: “F***. This series was so promising.”

News of Cavill’s replacement comes shortly after it was confirmed he will be returning as Superman.
The Immortals star has played the superhero character in Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and most recently, in the post-credit scene of Black Adam.
Taking to Instagram on Monday, Cavill told his fans: “I wanted to wait until the weekend was over before posting this because I wanted to give you all a chance to watch Black Adam.
“But now that plenty of you have, I wanted to make it official: I am back as Superman.”
In another post, he added: “A very small taste of what’s to come, my friends. The dawn of hope renewed. Thank you for your patience, it will be rewarded.”
