The Last Kingdom On Netflix Has Been Compared To Game Of Thrones

A Netflix series is being compared to Game of Thrones.

Game of Thrones is a fantasy drama TV show that aired between 2011 and 2019.

It follows nine noble families who are waging war against each other in order to gain control of the land of Westeros.

Due to its huge success, the spinoff House of the Dragon dropped. However, only one season has aired so far – leaving fans uncertain of what to obsess with next.

Fortunately, there’s another popular series that is being compared to the fantasy drama and it’s being dubbed ‘one of the best series in history’.

The Last Kingdom is set during the 9th century in Anglo-Saxon England as they fight back against Viking invaders from Denmark.

Discussing the historical drama on Twitter, one fan has tweeted: “Extremely captivating from its soundtrack to its staging in battle through history, everything, in general, is transmitted in an impressive way.

“This season has been really moving and for me, it is one of the best series in history. Masterpiece 10/10.”

While another adds: “Recently finished watching The Last Kingdom. This show seriously doesn’t get enough attention.

“It’s one of the most consistently well-written shows I’ve seen, even with the low budget of S1 does the writing shine, and continues to improve over time. Highly recommended.”

“The Last Kingdom is my favourite Netflix show. Its series finale far surpassed Game of Thrones finale!” writes a third fan.

A fourth says: “Well better than Game Of Thrones. Don’t think there is a bad episode let alone a bad season.”

Someone else pens: “What a show. Almost had me in tears, the last scene of the final episode. Anyone who hasn’t watched this show is genuinely missing out. 10/10 from me.”

The fifth and final season of The Last Kingdom has recently aired.

A follow-up film titled Seven Kings Must Die dropped on Netflix on April 14 of this year.

It scored an impressive 82 per cent score on Rotten Tomatoes.

The film is a sequel to the final season of The Last Kingdom – as well as acting as a conclusion to the story.

The Last Kingdom initially premiered on the streaming platform in 2015.

Despite not having much hype around the show and competing with Game of Thrones and the height of its popularity, the show has slowly amassed a large following.

It has a rating of 8.5 out of 10 on IMDB and a Rotten Tomatoes score of 91%, with audiences rating it 95%.

While no release date for the upcoming film has been revealed, fans will definitely be anticipating it so they can be reunited with their favourite characters.
