Johnny Depp has just signed a historic $20 million deal.

Depp, 59, was dropped from a number of films and several brands stopped working with him following his high-profile defamation trial against ex-wife Amber Heard.

The Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise, Warner Bros. and car manufacturer Audi all dropped Depp in the wake of the allegations levied against him.

However, one brand has doubled down on its relationship with the Edward Scissorhands star.

In fact, the latest brand deal is believed to be the largest men’s fragrance contract in history.

According to Variety, Dior is said to be paying Depp over $20 million for three years, which surpasses previous deals such as Robert Pattinson’s $12 million contract with Dior Homme and Brad Pitt’s $7 million pact with Chanel No. 5.

Despite facing pressure to sever ties with Depp during his legal battle with Heard, Dior stood by the actor and continued the collaboration.

Depp has been the face of Dior Sauvage since 2015, embodying his persona as a rebellious rocker in the fragrance’s ad campaigns.

Depp’s marketability received a boost following his victory in the highly publicised defamation trial against Heard, leading to a surge in Dior Sauvage sales.

Bernard Arnault, CEO of Dior’s parent company LVMH, credited the ‘image of Johnny Depp’ as a significant factor in the cologne’s ‘remarkable success’.

As well as his new Dior deal, Depp will have a prominent presence at the Cannes Film Festival, attending the world premiere of the film Jeanne du Barry on May 16, in which he portrays King Louis XV.

He will also participate in a Dior dinner and subsequently travel to London for a Jeff Beck tribute performance alongside Eric Clapton and Rod Stewart.

The agreement with Dior, negotiated by Depp’s representatives at Range Media, could potentially facilitate his return to major studio films.

Prior to the trial’s verdict, studios were hesitant to collaborate with him.

The trial shed light on the significant wages Depp lost, as his team had previously secured a $22.5 million deal for his involvement in Pirates 6 in 2017.

Depp is now preparing for his directorial comeback with the film Modi, centred around the life of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that Heard, 37, has ‘quit Hollywood’, changed her name and moved continents to ‘get away from all the noise’.

People magazine reports that the Aquaman star is now focusing on her daughter, Oonagh Paige.

An alleged source says: “She spends every day with her girl. They stroll around, visit parks and enjoy family time.

“Amber is a great mom.”
