The woman who is claiming to be Madeleine McCann won’t return to her old family – even if DNA proves she’s their biological child.

The Polish national went viral earlier this year after claiming to be the missing child who disappeared from a holiday apartment in Portugal on May 3, 2007.

She began making headlines after taking to social media under the username @iammadeleinemccann.

The 21-year-old documented a number of distinguishing features that she believes could mean she is the missing child – which includes a speck in her eye and a freckle on her leg.

Wandelt has even been interviewed by American TV personality Dr Phil and discussed her claims.

She’s addressed some of the biggest questions people have had, including why she believes she is a missing child.

In the high-profile interview, Wandelt claims she has never bonded with her mother and that whenever she has discussed the missing memories of her childhood, she would ‘change the subject’.

She also alleges that she hasn’t seen any photos of her mother pregnant, that she doesn’t have a birth certificate and the first six pages of her Polish child health book are missing.

During her appearance on the show, Wandelt shared that she is still waiting for the DNA results.

But regardless of its findings, she says she isn’t interested in returning to her old family.

The 21-year-old explains: “I think that mothers should not do these things to their children.

“If she is my mother, I don’t want to have contact with her that’s all, but I believe she isn’t my mother.”

Private investigator and medium Dr Fia Johansson – who is helping Wandelt – also tells the hosts that the young woman’s mother had ‘refused to do a DNA test and she refused to answer any calls, texts or other communication’.

But the family has shared a statement with Dr Phil.

It reads: “For us as a family, it is obvious that Julia is our daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and step-niece.

“We have memories, we have pictures. Julia also has these photos because she took them from the family home with the birth certificate, as well as numerous hospital discharges.

“We always tried to understand all situations that happened with Julia – threats to our address from Julia, her lies and manipulations, activity on the Internet.

“The internet won’t forget, and it’s obvious that Julia isn’t Maddie. We are devastated at this current situation.”

Gerry and Kate McCann, who are the parents of Madeleine, have yet to comment on the situation.
