Kim Kardashian has been slammed for her response to the criticism she has received over her Met Gala outfit.
The 40-year-old was called out for showing up to one of the biggest nights in fashion wearing a full bodysuit and T-shirt dress.
Although the look was custom-made by Balenciaga, it did not go down well with fans who felt she ‘completely missed the mark’ when it came to the theme, which was ‘America: A Lexicon of Fashion’.

Hitting back on Instagram, she said: “What’s more American than a T-shirt head to toe?!”
However, not everybody was convinced by her explanation, with one person writing: “This was her chance to explain this to everyone and blow them out of the water with an intelligent and fashion-forward researched reference.
“But nope, just a silly caption that proves she’s really all about just courting controversy and doesn’t understand anything about fashion or performance art.”
“Keep telling yourself that this was iconic girlfriend,” wrote another.
A third said: “Kim, you’re better than this.”

Others insisted they could tell her ex-husband, Kanye West, was responsible for the look and thought she was letting the world know they are back together.
“Tell me you’re back with your ex without telling me you’re back with ur ex,” penned one.
However, others praised her for ‘taking fashion in a new direction’ and said it was ‘iconic’.
One said: “Faceless, endless hair train and comfy. Taking fashion in a new direction. You and your team crushed it at the Met.”
Another added: “How are you the most talked about person at an event and nobody can even see you? THAT’S LEGENDARY.”
“Honey YOU are THE American Style!!! Only YOUUU can go dressed like that and be immediately recognised! ICOOOONNNNNNN,” a third commented.
