Mom Of Conjoined Twins Answers The Question Everyone Always Asks
The mom of a famous pair of conjoined twins has answered the one question everyone always asks her.
Abby and Brittany Hensel, the world’s most famous conjoined twins, have captivated the public ever since they first appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show in 1996.
Born with an extremely rare condition called dicephalic parapagus, the sisters share one body from the waist down but have two heads, two hearts, two spinal cords, and two separate brains.
Now, the Minnesota-based twins continue to live an extraordinary life – one that includes a successful teaching career, a close bond, and recently, a marriage.
The twins control their body cooperatively: Abby handles the right side, while Brittany manages the left.
Each has her own esophagus, stomach, and set of lungs, though they share a liver, a small intestine, a large intestine, a bladder, and one reproductive system.
Despite having to work in constant sync, they’ve mastered everyday tasks like driving (Abby controls the pedals, Brittany uses the turn signals) and even playing sports.

Their unique physiology sparked curiosity for decades, but in a recent TikTok video viewed by hundreds of thousands, Abby and Brittany gave a clearer picture of how their bodies function.
“They’re able to perform these tasks smoothly thanks to the remarkable synchronization between their two brains and nervous systems,” the narrator explained.
The video broke down how two separate circulatory and nervous systems work together, showing just how intricately the twins cooperate in daily life.
From a young age, the sisters insisted they never wished to be separated.
“We never wish we were separated because then we wouldn’t get to do the things that we do now — like play softball, run, and do sports,” Abby once said.
In 2021, Abby married Army veteran and nurse Joshua Bowling, making headlines across the globe.
Although Brittany is not legally married to Josh, they continue to live and function as a team.
Photos of the wedding, as well as more recent TikTok posts, have led to intense speculation about the possibility of children.
One video teased a mock headline: “Married and baby on the way,” prompting fans to wonder – can conjoined twins have children?

It’s a question the public has asked for years, and their mother once addressed it in a documentary, saying: “It is probably something that could work because those organs do work for them.”
Since the twins share a single reproductive system, conventional conception is biologically possible, per the Mirror.
While Abby is already a stepmother to Josh’s daughter Isabella, they haven’t publicly confirmed if they are expecting.
The twins have remained private about their romantic lives, and have never spoken publicly about their s** life.
But history suggests it’s not out of the realm of possibility, as cases of conjoined twins having children do exist, including a documented pregnancy from the early 1900s.
