McDonald’s is going to be upgrading its burgers.

The global fast-food chain is one of the biggest establishments in the world and is worth an estimated $211.63 billion.

It’s known for its mouthwatering fries, delicious McFlurries and yummy milkshakes.

McDonald’s is also known for its variety of burgers – which will now be getting a shake-up.

The company has announced that it will be making some major changes to its Big Macs, McDouble burgers, cheeseburgers, double cheeseburgers, and hamburgers.

This upgrade will include using softer buns which will be ‘toasted to a golden brown’ and more melted cheese.

White onions will also be cooked on the grill with the patties for ‘caramelised flavour’ and even more Big Mac sauce will be used in the burgers.

The updated recipe is currently being offered on the West Coast in the following cities: Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Sacramento, Phoenix, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, and Denver, among others.

McDonald’s hope that in early 2024, the changes will be available nationwide.

The chef and the senior director of culinary innovation of McDonald’s USA, Chad Schafer, has explained in the announcement why the fast-food chain has decided to make changes.

He says: “I’ll always remember my first burger from McDonald’s. And now my culinary team and I have the best job in the world: thinking about ways to bring even more of that iconic McDonald’s taste to fans.

“We found that small changes, like tweaking our process to get hotter, meltier cheese and adjusting our grill settings for a better sear, added up to a big difference in making our burgers more flavorful than ever.”

The change was first introduced in international markets, including Australia, Canada, and Belgium, and McDonald’s has said that the new recipe has received ‘rave reviews’.

The new changes come following the fast-food establishment adjusting other items on its menu.

In 2018, McDonald’s announced that it was switching to fresh beef for its Quarter Pounders, which led to soaring prices.

Then in 2021, it launched a crispy chicken sandwich to replace previous iterations and it was a massive hit among customers.

During a January analyst call, McDonald’s CEO Chris Kempczinski revealed that it is focusing on promoting its core menu items, rather than introducing new products as a way to keep processes simpler.

The company has been using promotions such as the adult Happy Meal to create buzz around its signature items.

He adds: “Throughout 2022, some of our most successful campaign platforms brought our customers closer to the core menu items.”
