Fans have been left baffled after discovering what Meghan Markle‘s and Prince Harry‘s real names are.

It’s not all that unusual to find out a celebrity‘s name is not what it seems.

Take Reginald Kenneth Dwight aka pop legend Elton John and Farrokh Bulsara aka Queen star Freddie Mercury.

And recently, it was revealed that Barack Obama’s daughter Malia had quietly changed her name

But now, it’s Markle and Prince Harry’s names that are under the microscope.

The names of Markle and her family have been under the microscope of late.

It was announced earlier this month that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex had changed both their children’s names – without even announcing it to the public.

Sussex.com displays Prince Harry and Markle’s children’s names as Archie and Lilibet Sussex, rather than Mountbatten-Windsor.

This breaks the royal naming tradition that dates back to 1964.

“The reality behind the new site is very simple – it’s a hub for the work the Sussexes do, and it reflects the fact the family have, since the King’s coronation, the same surname for the first time,” a source tells The Times.

“That’s a big deal for any family. It represents their unification, and it’s a proud moment.”

And now fans are shocked after learning that Markle is not actually her name at all.

“As if Meghan Markle’s real name isn’t Meghan Markle!” one fan writes on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“I just learned Meghan Markle’s real name. I trust no one and nothing,” another says.

A third adds: “Anyone else mind blown that Meghan Markle‘s real name isn’t Meghan Markle???”

Well her real name is surprisingly relevant to her career…

In an old interview on the American talk show The Racheal Ray Show, Markle discussed her acting role in the TV series Suits.

The show’s host jokes to Markle: “The character’s name is Rachel, which is great.”

The actress responds: “Did you know my first name is Rachel in real life? Did you know that? So I was born Rachel Meghan Markle but my parents,” before getting cut off by the host.

And it turns out, it’s not just Markle who goes by a different name.

Speaking to a young boy called Henry, Prince Harry revealed his real name!

As per the Mirror, he said: “My name is Henry as well. But everyone calls me Harry. I have no idea why.”

His full name is Henry Charles Albert David – which was reportedly chosen by his mother Princess Diana.

While the Duke of Sussex doesn’t know why he’s not called Henry, Metro claims that previous monarchs – including Henry VIII – were called Harry among friends.

If you didn’t know this, don’t feel alone, as many people online have also just discovered this.

One person asks: “Did anyone else not know Prince Harry’s real name was Henry?”

Another user adds: “I was just astounded to find out Harry wasn’t his actual name. I had no idea.”
