Footage Reveals Chilling Moment Dad Confessed To Fatally Shooting His Daughter Over Trump Row
Chilling footage of the moment a dad shot his daughter following a row over Donald Trump has been released.
Bodycam footage obtained by authorities reveals the moment Kris Harrison’s Texas house was swarmed by police, after he shot his daughter, Lucy Harrison, in broad daylight on January 10 last year.
Lucy and her boyfriend, Sam Littler, had flown over to the US to celebrate the festive season with her dad, but the trip took a tragic turn just hours before the couple were due to depart for the airport.
Lucy, 23, was a fashion buyer for Boohoo, from Warrington in Cheshire, UK.
Speaking at the inquest into her death, her mom, Jane Coates, described her as a ‘real force of life.’
Coates said: “She cared. She was passionate about things. She loved to have debates about things that meant a lot to her.”
The inquest heard how her father, Harrison, had moved to the US when Lucy was still a child, and had previously been in rehab for alcohol addiction.
Harrison revealed that he ‘briefly lapsed’ on the day of his daughter’s death.
What was their argument about?
Lucy’s boyfriend, Littler, recalled that Lucy had a ‘major dispute’ with her dad concerning the President, shortly before the fatal shooting.
According to his testimony, during the argument about Trump, his partner had asked her father: “How would you feel if I were the girl in that situation and had been s**ually assaulted?”
Her boyfriend told the court that Harrison responded by saying he had two other daughters living at home, so it would not affect him all that much.
She was left upset by the comment and ran upstairs.
Littler later testified that around half an hour before they were scheduled to leave for the airport, Lucy was taken by the hand and led into her father’s bedroom.
‘I heard a loud bang’
Littler recalled hearing a ‘loud bang’ just seconds later, and then heard Lucy’s dad screaming for his wife, Heather.
“I remember running into the room and Lucy was lying on the floor near the entrance to the bathroom,” he said.
“Kris was just screaming, just sort of nonsense.”
Harrison was not present in court, but had issued a statement saying that he and his daughter had been watching a news segment about gun crime when he asked if she wanted to see his gun.
He then showed her a Glock 9mm semi-automatic handgun, which he kept in his bedroom.
Harrison claimed he bought the gun for a ‘sense of security’ while living in the States.
In his statement, Harrison recalled the tragic moment he shot his daughter.
“As I lifted the gun to show her I suddenly heard a loud bang,” he wrote.
“I did not understand what had happened. Lucy immediately fell.”
Medical reports have stated that Lucy was shot in the chest by another person from ‘mid-range.’
Chilling footage
Due to laws in Texas, Harrison did not need a license to purchase or keep a gun at his residence.
In footage from the scene, he is seen explaining his version of events to police.
Reciting the conversation he allegedly had with his daughter to officers, he claimed: “She just said, ‘You got a gun?’ I said, ‘Yes’. I got it out and it just went off as she stood there.”
Explaining their relationship, he added: “That’s our daughter. We were getting ready to go to the airport and we were talking about guns.”
When asked what he has done with the weapon, Harrison said: “I put it on the bed straight away, yeah. It was in the bedside cabinet. In a locked box.
“We took it out to look and just as I picked it up it went off.”
Will the dad face prosecution?
During the inquest, the coroner said she did not believe that Lucy had asked to see the gun.
A grand jury in the US previously determined that there was not enough evidence to charge anyone in connection with Lucy’s death.
But during the UK inquest into her death yesterday (February 12), the coroner ruled that the 23-year-old was killed unlawfully.
Coroner Jacqueline Devonish said, as per the BBC: “To shoot her through the chest whilst she was standing would have required him to have been pointing the gun at his daughter, without checking for bullets, and pulling the trigger.
“I find these actions to be reckless. With a bullet through her heart her prognosis was poor in any event.”
