JD Vance Makes Shock Baby Announcement And Everyone’s Saying The Same Thing
Vice President JD Vance has announced that his wife, Usha Vance, is expecting their fourth child in a heartfelt statement.
The Vice President shared on X (formerly Twitter) yesterday (January 20) that his wife, the Second Lady of the United States, is expecting the couple’s fourth child.
Having been married for over a decade, Usha and JD currently share three young children, Ewan, Vivek, and Mirabel, after meeting at Yale Law School in 2010.
JD claims that the pair bonded over the ‘social decline in white America,’ and became good friends before getting married in 2014.
The announcement, which has been met with well-wishes from US citizens, also happens to be record-breaking.
Usha Vance is now the first to have a baby while serving as the Second Lady of the US, though first ladies have welcomed children while their husbands were in office.
Who is Usha Vance?
Usha was born and raised in the suburbs of San Diego, California, to immigrant parents who had moved to the US from Andhra Pradesh, India.
She graduated with a BA in history from Yale University, and went onto to study at Yale Law School, where she met her future husband, who would also go onto become to Vice President of America.
In his book, JD wrote that he ‘violated every rule of modern dating‘ when he met Usha, after telling her that he was in love on their first date.
Interestingly, given her position, Usha was a registered Democrat until as recently as a decade ago.
And until last summer, Usha was a trial lawyer at a law firm which boasts its reputation as ‘radically progressive.’
JD Vance and Usha’s family
The Vice President has previously shared that both he and Usha parent in quite different ways – especially when their children, who are aged eight, five, and three, are having a tantrum.
Speaking on a podcast, he said: “It is amazing.
“She’s super patient. She’ll try to reason with them.
“If they have a tantrum in a public place, I immediately grab them, take them to the bathroom and say, ‘You got to cut that c*** out.'”
The couple had their first baby, son Ewan, in June 2017.
Few details about their children have been shared, as the couple largely keep them out of the spotlight.
During a public appearance in October 2025, JD spoke about how they raise their children in an interfaith household, given that he is Christian, and Usha grew up Hindu.
He said: “We talk to each other about this stuff. So, we decided to raise our kids Christian. Our two oldest kids go to a Christian school.
“My 8-year-old was very proud of his First Communion.”
Will Vance become the next President of the US?
Given that President Trump is the oldest person to ever take office, Republicans will be looking towards their next candidate for the all-important role, at least in some capacity.
And given that the Vice President is just 41, the party may look to him as an ideal candidate.
Vance continues to be mentioned in conversations about who might succeed Trump, alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
But while the Vice President is an extremely strong candidate, there’s no way of really knowing who the next President will be.
The pregnancy announcement
JD announced last night that he and Usha are expecting their fourth child in July, which they revealed will be a little boy.
The statement read: “We’re very excited to share the news that Usha is pregnant with our fourth child, a boy.
“Usha and the baby are doing well, and we are all looking forward to welcoming him in late July.”
They added: “During this exciting and hectic time, we are particularly grateful for the military doctors who take excellent care of our family, and for the staff members who do so much to ensure that we can serve the country while enjoying a wonderful life with our children.”
People were quick to wish the couple and their family well, as one person said: “Congratulations on this beautiful blessing!”
Another added: “A dad with 4 kids in a position of power is a wonderful thing. A focus on family!”
A third wrote: “Get married. Have babies. Make families great again. Congrats!”
Everyone is saying the same thing
While many people wished the two well, others brought Erika Kirk into the conversation.
Erika and JD are linked by her widow, Charlie Kirk, who was a good friend of the Vice President before his death.
The mom-of-two found comfort in her friendship with Vance and Usha in the wake of his death, but it wasn’t long before the internet created their own narrative about Erika and JD’s relationship.
Following the bizarre speculation, Usha was pictured without her wedding ring, prompting speculation that she had split up with the Vice President, and that he was instead, dating Erika.
The pregnancy news came as a shock to many, as it was just months ago that Usha was seen without her ring – but it seems the two are very much together.

But users online have taken things a step further following the news, claiming that Usha’s pregnancy is a surrogacy for JD and Erika’s ‘baby.’
One said: “It’s Erika Kirk and JD’s child. Usha is the surrogate.”
Proposing another wildly inappropriate twist, a second wrote: “You don’t announce until at least the first trimester is over so by my calculations, they had s** the day Charlie Kirk was killed.”
Another added: “I can’t believe JD impregnated Usha just to distract everyone from his affair with Erika Kirk and also the Epstein files.”
How old is Usha Vance?
Aside from wild conspiracies, other users online are questioning how old the Second Lady is, given that the couple have been married for over a decade and already share three children.
While the average woman’s fertility begins to decline between her late 20s and early 30s, the realistic upper age limit to naturally carry a baby is usually between 40 to 45 years old.
And many may be surprised to learn that Usha turned 40 just two weeks ago.
According to doctors, while the risks associated with ‘advanced maternal age’ are real, they are no longer the barrier they once were.
